By agreement Full-time On-site 28 Jul 2026 Deadline: 12 Aug 2026

Greenland Police is seeking a lawyer for the Management Secretariat, where you will work on legal tasks that support the police's work in Greenland. The position involves case processing, guidance, and collaboration with authorities, as well as the development of the organization.

Are you interested in working with a wide range of legal tasks that support the police's work to create safety in Greenlandic society? Are you passionate about making a difference for both citizens and colleagues in Greenland?

Greenland's Police is seeking a skilled lawyer to handle the many different legal tasks in the Management Secretariat. The tasks in the Management Secretariat are a varying combination of concrete legal case processing outside of criminal law aimed at citizens and authorities, as well as contributing with interpretation and communication of rules and handling of legal issues related to the police's task portfolio and conducting internal training. In addition, the secretariat is responsible for preparing contributions to responses to parliamentary questions and hearings from the National Police and the Greenlandic authorities. As a lawyer in the Management Secretariat, you will also be actively involved in the development of Greenland's Police as an organization.

About the position

In the Management Secretariat, we work overall to support the entire Greenlandic Police in achieving the strategic goals. We do this based on Greenland's Police's overall strategy for 2023-2026 "Together we create safety," with a focus on prevention, children and youth, violent crime, and a good workplace. Your work is central to achieving these goals.

You will become part of the Management Secretariat, which as a department handles a number of very diverse tasks ranging from communication and legal case processing, assistance to other authorities, to portfolio management, general management support, and collection of the police's claims.

The Management Secretariat is part of Greenland's Police's staff function, which is tasked with supporting the overall task execution in the police district.

Your tasks will thus provide a broad interface and insight into the entire organization of Greenland's Police. The position therefore involves close collaboration with the police district's top management and other leaders across the entire Greenlandic Police.

In your daily work, you will support the secretariat manager and the top management primarily by:
• legal case processing in a wide range of areas, such as restraining orders, compensation cases, permit cases, complaint cases, etc.
• legal guidance for both citizens and colleagues

• supporting Greenland's Police in connection with ministerial services during hearings from the legislative assemblies
• preparing materials and guidelines that support the police's and management's tasks
• preparing legal notes, guidelines, action cards, etc.

• ensuring good cooperation with a wide range of Greenlandic and Danish authorities as well as international stakeholders
• managing projects and development tasks

About you
You thrive in a large organization that is constantly influenced by political decisions, and you understand how to think and act from a holistic perspective. A good knowledge of the police and prosecution area and/or experience from central administration is an advantage, but not a requirement.

You are motivated by the interaction between independently diving into legal issues and engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration with other colleagues. You are quick to familiarize yourself with new rules and subject areas, as well as being quick to see through legal issues, both specific and general – even in areas where navigation between different legislations issued by Greenlandic and Danish authorities is required.

You are good at expressing yourself both orally and in writing, and you work effectively, independently, and structured at a high professional level.

Furthermore, you have personal impact and thrive in a sometimes fast-paced and changing everyday life while being meticulous with your work.

We expect you to:
• have a degree in law (cand.jur)

• have experience with administrative legal case processing and project work
• have a good understanding of organizations
• see the benefits of working development-oriented and sharing your knowledge

• be good at collaborating and have an eye for the whole
• communicate clearly and respectfully, as the secretariat supports the rest of the organization, which consists of employees with different backgrounds and education.

About the department
You will become part of the Management Secretariat, which consists of 9 employees, including 2 legal interns. We have a strong professional and social community, an informal tone, and appreciate a good mood. You will be warmly welcomed, and you will have good conditions to solve your tasks. You will always have easy access to professional sparring, advice, and guidance from colleagues and management.

We emphasize that you have the opportunity for varied tasks and competence development. We focus on ensuring a reasonable balance between your work and private life, and you will therefore have the opportunity for flexible scheduling of your working hours.

Salary and employment conditions
Remuneration will be based on educational level and qualifications and in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the negotiating organization.

The working hours are 40 hours weekly.

The workplace is in Nuuk, but since we serve the entire police district in Greenland, travel activity may occur.

A non-furnished staff housing may be assigned to the position, which you will pay for the deposit, rent, and ongoing expenses. The size of the housing depends on the number of people in your household. Since there may be a waiting period for the assignment of permanent staff housing, you will be provided with furnished temporary housing in the meantime. Accommodation in a hotel may occur for a short period if there is also a waiting period for temporary housing. No temporary housing will be provided if you are already residing in Nuuk.

Relocation assistance and travel expenses for commencement will be provided in accordance with the applicable rules at any time. It is a prerequisite for employment that you can be security cleared, and you must also be able to maintain the security clearance throughout your employment.

The working environment in Greenland's Police is smoke and nicotine-free.
