The Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a caseworker for the Children and Youth Department in Aasiaat. The position involves handling cases related to children and young people, as well as collaborating with families and placement facilities. Start date is September 1, 2026, or by agreement.

Aasiaat - The Social Department is seeking a caseworker for the Children and Youth Department

The Municipality of Qeqertalik is looking for a caseworker for the Children and Youth Department in Aasiaat, starting on September 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

Work and responsibilities will include:

  • Processing cases concerning children and youth, including registration and documentation of relevant information.
  • Gathering necessary information in connection with case processing regarding children and youth.
  • Implementing relevant measures for children, youth, and families, including preparing action plans and conducting social assessments.
  • Conducting interviews with children, youth, and families.
  • Processing placement cases within the framework of the law, including planning and managing the cases on a sound basis, as well as collaborating with parents and prospective placement locations. Changing placements and accompanying and executing the actual placement.
  • Individual supervision of children placed outside the home
  • Handling notifications
  • Participating in social duty and backup arrangements outside normal working hours.

Qualifications:

  • Educated social worker or with another relevant educational background.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities, including experience with support under the legislation on assistance to children and adults with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with the use of computers and relevant work tools.
  • Reliable, responsible, meticulous, and cooperative.
  • Psychological resilience is a requirement to hold the position.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Naalakkersuisut and the negotiating organization at the time of commencement.

Housing

Housing for staff may be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc., will be paid according to the rules for rent payment in the Government of Greenland and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered temporary accommodation, for which A-tax will be paid for free benefits according to applicable legislation.

OR The start date is dependent on when staff housing becomes available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses will be provided according to applicable rules.

Staff housing must be vacated upon termination of employment.

Criminal and child certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police, as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.
