Technician for Aasiaat Transmission

Tusass plays a central role in the operation and development of Greenland's critical communication infrastructure. We operate in a constantly evolving technological landscape, where the demands for uptime, quality, and secure communication at sea, in the air, and on land are high.

We are looking for an independent, responsible, and technically skilled technician for Teknik Transmission Aasiaat, who will help ensure the operation and maintenance of transmission equipment in the area from Upernavik to Sisimiut.

The department is part of the Operate function under the technical division T&I and consists of a workshop leader and two technicians. The position is based in Aasiaat and has a particular focus on the operation of Aasiaat Radio as well as transmission-related customer systems in the region.

About the position

As a technician in Teknik Transmission Aasiaat, you will have a versatile and responsible role with a wide range of responsibilities. Your tasks will range from daily operations and maintenance to participation in construction projects and emergency work.

Your tasks will include:

• Operation and maintenance of Aasiaat Radio, including coastal and flight communication

• Maintenance of LH and Minilink radio chain systems

• Working with radio telephony, DVB-T transmitters, and HF and VHF communication equipment

• Troubleshooting and fault correction on transmission equipment across the area

• Participation in construction projects and project management on smaller projects

• Coordination of fault resolution across departments

• Participation in the department's emergency preparedness

• Assisting other transmission areas as needed

The position involves travel activity, where transport primarily occurs by helicopter and charter ship, and where the length of trips may vary.

We are looking for you who…

Has a solid technical background in the telecommunications and transmission field and thrives with independent responsibility in a daily routine where tasks vary.

We expect that you:

• Have a technical education in electronics, e.g., as an electronics technician or electronics technologist, or have acquired equivalent competencies through relevant experience with the operation and troubleshooting of technical systems.

• Have experience with tele-technical installations and operations

• Have knowledge of communication circuits (satellite, submarine cable, radio, telephone)

• Can analyze relationships in complex technical installations

• Have a general knowledge of servers, routers, and switches

• Work in a structured, thorough, and responsible manner

• Are reliable, flexible, and thrive in a sometimes busy work environment

• Have good collaboration skills – even when the collaboration takes place over the phone

• Master Danish and English in writing and speaking (Greenlandic is an advantage)
