Ilisimatusarfik is seeking lecturers, assistant professors, study lecturers and/or study assistants in law. The positions can be full-time or part-time and are desired to be filled by August 1, 2026. Employees are expected to contribute to the development, administration, and teaching of the law program, focusing on Greenlandic, international, and Arctic law.
Ilisimatusarfik, located in Nuuk, is seeking – depending on the applicant pool – one or more lecturers, assistant professors, teaching lecturers, and/or teaching assistants in the field of law in a broad sense. The positions, which can be full-time or part-time, are desired to be filled by August 1, 2026, or by agreement.
At the Department of Law, there is an opportunity for research within a broad legal framework with a focus on Greenlandic, international, and/or Arctic law. It is an advantage – but not a requirement – if you have experience with interdisciplinary research collaboration or are interested in engaging in partnerships with university research centers. See the university's research centers here: https://da.uni.gl/forskning/
The responsibility for the law program is placed in the Department of Law. Employees anchored in the department are therefore expected to contribute to both the development and administration of as well as teaching in the program. Teaching is conducted at both the bachelor's and master's levels in general, nationally legal dogmatic, and international subjects.
It is important for the education's stakeholders that the students are taught Greenlandic law in the nationally oriented legal dogmatic subjects, with a certain focus on Greenlandic society and Arctic conditions in the general and international subjects.
There are currently about 70 students enrolled in the growing law program. At Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland's University, the teaching can take place in Greenlandic, Danish, and English. However, it is a requirement that you can or are willing to learn Danish or Greenlandic for educational purposes within a short period of time.
As both full-time and part-time employees are expected to be available for the students at Ilisimatusarfik and to engage in collegial collaboration, it is expected that you have or will establish residence in Greenland.
