Family Counselor

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq MI Tasiilaq is seeking a skilled and dedicated family counselor for the newly established Initiative Area under the Department of Children and Family. MI Tasiilaq has reorganized, consolidating all initiative areas into a single department, which will consist of 23 employees once fully staffed. The Initiative Area in MI Tasiilaq works with vulnerable children and families referred by caseworkers or through open counseling. The family counselor will participate in family guidance and social pedagogical initiatives for socially challenged families, working on a structured basis focusing on the entire family. This is a full-time position reporting to the department head in the Initiative Area MI Tasiilaq. We are looking for an experienced family counselor with a strong educational and preferably experiential background in working with vulnerable children and families. Responsibilities include supporting and guiding families in care, communication, roles, and other factors affecting the child's and family's well-being, conducting home visits, engaging in dialogue with families, participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning, collaborating with internal and external partners, and actively contributing to the treatment team. Applicants should have relevant social work education, extensive experience in holistic family treatment, strong personal and professional integrity, excellent organizational skills, and a positive outlook. A satisfactory criminal and child record check is required before employment can commence. Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the current agreement between Greenland's Self-Government and the relevant negotiating organization.
