The Data Protection Agency is seeking an employee with legal competencies for the office in Greenland. The position is initially part-time, but may be full-time depending on your profile. You will advise citizens and authorities on data protection and handle legal cases. The workplace will be in Nuuk starting September 2026.

The Danish Data Protection Agency will open an office in Greenland in 2026 with the aim of getting closer to citizens, businesses, and authorities in Greenland and contributing to making data protection both more accessible and more relevant in a Greenlandic context.

The office, which will be staffed with about three full-time equivalents, will be located in Nuuk.

The position is initially a part-time position, but depending on your profile, full-time employment may also be an option.

  • Guidance for citizens, businesses, and public authorities in the field of data protection law.
  • concrete legal processing of complaint cases, supervision cases, and inquiries, requests for access to documents, etc.

About you

You have an academic background (bachelor's or master's degree) and knowledge of law; perhaps you have completed a bachelor's degree and are currently pursuing a master's degree in law.

It would be an advantage if, in addition to mastering Danish in writing and speech, you also master Greenlandic in writing and speech, and if you have knowledge of Greenland and Greenlandic conditions, for example as a result of previous or current stays in Greenland.

You are interested in public law subjects, data protection, and technological development. We expect that you also

  • likes to advise, enjoys talking to people, and is good at communicating rights and obligations in an understandable way both orally and in writing
  • is service-minded and has good collaboration skills
  • is structured in your approach and good at prioritizing among tasks

Salary and employment conditions

The area of employment is the Data Protection Agency.

The position is to be filled on June 1, 2026, or as soon as possible.

From around September 1, 2026, when the office is expected to open, your workplace will be the Data Protection Agency's location in Nuuk. Until the opening of the office in Nuuk, your workplace in Denmark or Greenland will be determined by agreement between you and the director of the Data Protection Agency.

You will be placed on a basic salary as a bachelor or master's degree holder and employed under the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance, the Employee and Competence Agency for legal candidates and university economists, etc., in the service of the state in Greenland, or the Agreement for master's degree holders, engineers, and land surveyors in the service of the state in Greenland.

There will be an opportunity to negotiate a qualification supplement. The employment is associated with a availability obligation, which for full-time employment (average 40 hours per week) amounts to up to 25 hours within each quarter.

The average weekly number of working hours is initially 15, but for the right applicant, it will be possible to agree on a different number of hours or full-time employment (an average of 40 hours per week).

You earn vacation with pay and special vacation days according to the applicable law on vacation at any given time.

You are covered by the Greenlandic regulations on holidays and the Greenlandic Salaried Employees Act.

No housing is provided for the position.

It is a prerequisite for employment that you consent to the Data Protection Agency obtaining and assessing information about you from the Central Criminal Register and evaluating the information. Furthermore, it is a prerequisite that you will be able to obtain security clearance, as well as being able to maintain the security clearance throughout your employment.
