Social Manager

Kujalleq Municipality is seeking a Social Director who can take overall responsibility for one of the municipality's most central welfare areas – at a time when professional quality, financial management, and organizational rebuilding are in focus.

The position is for you who have solid management experience from the social sector and can combine professional weight, leadership strength, and strategic overview in a politically governed organization.

About the position

As the Social Director, you will have overall responsibility for operations, development, and finances in the social sector in the Municipality of Kujalleq. You report to the municipal director and are part of the municipality's management team.

The social sector faces significant tasks, including:

• Reestablishment and strengthening of professional workflows.
• Improved financial management and transparency.
• Building a robust management and organizational structure.
• Collaboration with external authorities in relation to suspended areas.

Central areas of responsibility

As Social Director, you have the overall responsibility for:

• Strategic and professional management of the social sector.
• Management of department heads and employees.
• Budget responsibility and financial management within given allocations.
• Ensuring professional and legal quality in case processing and interventions.
• Development and implementation of strategies, policies, and action plans.
• Advising the management and political level.
• Cross-cutting collaboration with other administrations and external partners.

A municipality in a special situation

Parts of the social sector are currently suspended, and the Naalakkersuisut has temporarily taken over responsibility for certain tasks. As the Social Director, you will therefore play a key role in:

• The collaboration with the Naalakkersuisut regarding the suspended areas.
• Preparation and execution of a controlled repatriation.
• Rebuilding of organization, professionalism, and leadership strength.
• Ensuring safety for citizens, employees, and partners.

We are looking for a Social Manager who:

• Has solid leadership experience from the social sector, preferably in a politically governed organization.
• Has documented experience in financial management and budget follow-up.
• Has a strong understanding of the relationship between professional decisions, finance, and organization.
• Can work strategically while ensuring stable operations.
• Is clear, trustworthy, and decisive in their leadership.
• Can navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and foster collaboration.
• Has knowledge of – or strong motivation to understand – Greenlandic societal conditions and culture.
