Nunatta Katersugaasivia Allagaateqarfialu/Greenland's National Museum & Archives is seeking an engaged digital heritage inspector to take responsibility for the institution's digital work. The position involves coordinating, developing, and ensuring the quality of the museum's digital systems and strategies, as well as developing digital communication initiatives and social media strategies.
The National Museum & Archives of Greenland is seeking a committed and professionally strong digital heritage curator who can take overall responsibility for the institution's digital work and ensure continuity, quality, and strategic development across the museum's and archive's tasks.
Digitalization, digital communication, and digital dissemination are today integrated parts of the work with collections, research, preservation, and audience-oriented communication. To fully leverage the potential, we are looking for a professional with both technical insight, communication skills, and an understanding of cultural heritage – including the ability to translate knowledge into engaging content on social media.
The position
The position is centrally located within the organization and involves responsibility for coordinating, developing, and ensuring the quality of the museum's and archive's digital systems, communication channels, and strategies. You will work closely with both curators, communicators, and other staff members.
In a transitional period, the position will have a special focus on knowledge transfer and continuity in connection with the upcoming retirement of the external consultant.
Work tasks

Your primary tasks will include, among other things:

Develop, implement, and follow up on a comprehensive digital strategy that supports the museum's goals in conservation, research, communication, and outreach.

Coordinate and ensure quality of digitization projects across departments.

Support employees through counseling, teaching, and skills development in digital platforms, data, and communication.

Ensure the operation and further development of the museum's technical infrastructure, including databases, servers, networks, backups, and IT security.

Manage digital preservation and documentation of collections and archives (including photos, maps, audio, and video materials) in accordance with international standards and applicable legislation.

Develop digital communication initiatives, including digital exhibitions, 3D models, AR/VR solutions, and educational materials.

Plan, produce, and edit content for social media (SoMe), including text, images, and video, in collaboration with communicators and subject inspectors.

Contribute to a cohesive social media strategy that enhances the museum's visibility, audience engagement, and communication of cultural heritage.

Work with data management and research support, including GIS data, 3D scans, excavation data, and metadata.

Collaboration with local museums and regional cultural institutions on digitization, communication, and digital communication.

Participate in national and international collaborations and contribute to applications for external funding for digital development projects.

Qualifications

Has a relevant higher education in IT, digital cultural heritage, information science, communication, museology, or equivalent.

Has solid experience with digital systems, databases, and digitization processes – preferably from the museum, archive, or cultural heritage sector.

Has documented experience with SoMe content creation, including idea development, production, and editing of content for social media.

Has an understanding of target audiences, digital communication, and engagement on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or similar.

Has knowledge of visual and audiovisual tools (e.g., image and video editing).

Has an understanding of digital preservation, metadata, and standards within cultural heritage.

Works in a structured, independent, and strategic manner.

Thrives in a coordinating role and can communicate technical and professional knowledge to colleagues with different backgrounds.

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
