SEARCH THIS POSITION Would you like to be part of an exciting workplace in Greenland? Are you motivated by a changing everyday life, and do you want to help create security in society by working with legal issues and criminal cases? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
Greenland is one police district, and the Greenland Police therefore serves the whole of Greenland. The Greenland Police currently employs 15 lawyers (of which 14 are in the prosecution), about 170 police trainees, and about 70 administrative staff and sailors, in addition to part-time employees.
We are an organization in constant development that must continuously adapt to the demands and trends of a complex and modern environment. We always aim to become better at solving our core tasks, which are to create security, prevent, and combat crime, and therefore we are now offering several exciting positions as district court prosecutors.
The position is desired to be filled by October 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.
About the position
The local prosecution authority of the Greenland Police has been reorganized as of January 1, 2026, so that it now consists of a District Court unit, a High Court and expert unit, and a Secretariat.
The primary tasks of the district court unit are to assess and write criminal cases from all over Greenland, including attending all criminal cases in Nuuk as well as more serious criminal cases along the entire coast.
As a district court prosecutor, it is therefore your task to make the legal assessment of whether a criminal case should be brought before the district court. In addition, you must prepare and appear in criminal cases at the district courts. Finally, you must appear in preliminary hearings, etc.
Greenland's Police has a special focus on incorporating the principle of proximity and aims to create a balance that still ensures sufficient language and cultural knowledge among the district court prosecutors.
Kredsretsenheden har p.t. kontor på Imaneq 22, 3900 Nuuk.
