1-2 AC Advisor or Special Consultant for the Management Secretariat in the Ministry of Environment and Nature

The Ministry of Environment and Nature is seeking a new colleague for the management secretariat. You will work closely with the permanent secretary and the management team to ensure smooth case processing. Tasks include political decision proposals, quality assurance, and communication tasks. The position requires a relevant education and experience with political processes.

SEARCH THIS POSITION Start date: Start from April 1, 2026, or as soon as agreed.

The Department of Nature and Environment is looking for a new colleague who can work closely with the head of department and the rest of the management.

The department consists of approximately 35 employees, distributed across three divisions (the Department of Service, Economy, Personnel, and Climate; the Nature Department; and the Environmental and Emergency Management Department) as well as the Environmental Agency for the Raw Materials area. Pinngortitaleriffik (Greenland's Nature Institute) and Asiaq are also subordinate units to the department.

You will help ensure that case processes and workdays run smoothly and efficiently – both by servicing the head of department, the management team, and the rest of the department. You will report to the head of department but will also work closely with the rest of the management team and your colleagues in other departments. You need to be efficient and flexible, and ready to assist in individual departments if there is an unstaffed position for a period or for other reasons there is increased workload.

Your tasks

You will be part of a small management secretariat that services and supports the department's management regarding daily operations, planning, and political priorities. You can expect an exciting everyday life characterized by many different types of tasks, often depending on the inquiries that come either from the political side, citizens, or municipalities. You can expect that your primary tasks will be:

  • Contribute to the implementation of political priorities and goals.
  • Coordinator of important tasks and preparation of political decision-making proposals
  • Quality assurance of material to be presented to the permanent secretary and the minister.
  • Response and coordination of hearings and other inquiries to the department
  • All forms of communication tasks across the areas of responsibility in the department.
  • Follow-up on tasks across departments in the ministry
  • Management support in the form of preparing minutes, notes, etc.
  • Preparation and development of materials and presentations for meetings
  • Various ad hoc and support tasks

This is a position with many facets and a broad area of responsibility. You should expect to work with tight deadlines, so you need to be good at maintaining an overview and continuously prioritizing your tasks. You will become part of a workplace with good colleagues, an informal tone, and where well-being and development are highly prioritized.

Qualifications

You are service-minded, independent, and flexible with a talent for organizing, understanding new things, and maintaining an overview. You are self-assured, motivated by challenges, conscientious, loyal, and have a positive attitude.

It is important that you stay ahead and take pride in being the best possible support for management. Since communication and quality assurance are an important part of your tasks, it is required that you have good writing skills.

We also expect that you:

  • has a relevant higher education, e.g. in communication, social sciences, or law
  • has an understanding of political decision-making processes, preferably from a similar position
  • Has experience and a communicative flair
  • thrives in a busy everyday life with changing agendas and tasks
  • is structured and good at ensuring compliance with deadlines
  • can work independently and take initiative on their own
  • not afraid to take responsibility and ask others for advice
  • demonstrates a strong sense of responsibility for task resolution
  • can collaborate with many different people and professions
  • has a positive attitude and is good at achieving results
  • has good formulation skills and written flair
