This includes legislation, including its own social legislation, strategies, and projects to strengthen the conditions for vulnerable adults and the elderly in Greenland.
The tasks in the Department of Social Affairs include the preparation of legislation in the area of social law, including the preparation of regulations and guidelines. Servicing the political level in the form of notes, reports, and the handling of legal questions.
The tasks are diverse and require the ability to collaborate across language, cultural, and professional boundaries, as well as to take independent responsibility for one's own areas of work. The position demands the ability to quickly familiarize oneself with new material and to be flexible, as well as to thrive in an organization where small and large tasks intersect in a sometimes hectic daily routine.
The Naalakkersuisut is also working on a series of reform initiatives in the social sector aimed at increasing welfare for vulnerable adults as well as for our elderly citizens in Greenland, which the lawyer will participate in and advise on.
Organizationally, the position is placed under the head of the Department of Social Affairs. You will be part of the department's group of lawyers and will work closely with lawyers in the ministry. Your tasks will primarily relate to social law areas.
You can expect a varied, extremely exciting, and challenging job. Through your tasks, you will develop great expertise in the use of the legal method and your own creative ability to translate established political goals into participating in the processes of implementing specific legislation.
About the position
The tasks include, among other things.

To function as an advisor for the political level in collaboration with the management of the department.

To assist in the preparation of social legislation and ensure that any guidelines for this are also developed.

To prepare political proposals, reports, responses, etc.

Legislative preparatory work in the form of assistance and project collaboration with the individual departments and the administration of the Inatsisartut, as well as the Danish authorities.

Legal quality assurance of proposals for Inatsisartut laws, Self-Government regulations, municipal statutes, and cross-cutting circulars, as well as confirmation and publication of these.

Legal advice in the social field, including the preparation of legal notes and responses.

Resolve and guide in administrative law tasks across the departments.

Conducting courses on legal quality, case processing, and other legal topics within the social sector.

Has a degree in law (cand. jur.).

Have an open and positive approach to your work and your colleagues.

Is independent, well-structured, and results-oriented.

Has an interest in translating politics into law and vice versa.

Skilled in written and spoken formulation

In the Department of Social Affairs, Families, Labor Market, and Interior Affairs, we have about 35 employees distributed across the departments of Management Secretariat, Social Affairs and Families, Labor Market, Interior Affairs, and the Supervision Unit, where this position is organizationally anchored in the Department of Social Affairs and Families.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets, such as dogs or cats, in staff or temporary housing.
