We are seeking an experienced security professional to serve as Guard Force Commander for the United States Consulate in Nuuk.
Serve and Protect: Guard Force Commander for U.S. Mission Facilities
The Guard Force Commander oversees all U.S. Government facilities and leased residences, providing operational and administrative supervision for the local guard force on a 24-hour basis. This position is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Local Guard Force (LGF) Program, ensuring the safety and security of U.S. Government personnel, facilities, and property.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise Security Operations: Oversee 24-hour Local Guard Force (LGF) Program operations; supervise guard force personnel across all shifts; plan schedules and adjust assignments; perform inspections of guards and posts; coordinate security response to incidents and emergencies with Host Country Police.
Conduct Inspections & Assessments: Conduct personnel and post inspections; inspect Consul residence and/or personnel residences and U.S. Government (USG) vehicles; maintain Guard Post Logs and incident report databases; assess security operations and recommend improvements; ensure proper maintenance of security equipment and vehicles.
Manage Training & Personnel: Conduct LGF training program including basic, annual, and in-service instruction; oversee Employee Performance Reviews (EPR); recommend disciplinary actions; ensure personnel proficiency in policies and procedures.
Administer Program Operations: Provide security reports to Regional Security Officer (RSO) and Assistant Regional Security Officer (ARSO); manage scheduling, time and attendance, and training records; maintain budget records and coordinate equipment procurement; utilize MS Office Suite for documentation.
Coordinate Emergency Response: Coordinate drills with Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) First Responder Team, RSO, and Medical Unit; supervise security for official functions and events; respond to security incidents and threats; communicate effectively with Mission personnel and stakeholders.
Qualifications Required
Education:

Completion of secondary education, high school diploma, or local equivalent

Minimum of 4 years of experience in the military, as a police officer, or as a security guard

Additional 1 year of supervisory experience (totaling 5 years of experience)

Good working knowledge in speaking, reading, and writing

Knowledge of emergency response procedures, notification processes, and state-of-the-art security equipment

Awareness of cultural norms, customs, traffic law, and local traffic accident resolution procedures

Strong leadership abilities with experience in motivating, mentoring, and disciplining personnel; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in presentation and instructional techniques.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint); basic computer literacy for reports, standard operating procedures, and email.

Ability to always stay alert, maintain professionalism and high standards of conduct, and meet physical conditions including standing and walking for extended periods in various weather conditions.

Ability to operate motor vehicles, security control panels, emergency alarms, public address systems, radio communication equipment, and an Automated External Defibrillator.
