Support Workers

The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking dedicated and caring support workers for children at Nuussuup Atuarfia. The positions are part-time, 25 hours a week. We expect you to be trained as a support worker or have an educational background, be resilient, patient, and good at collaboration. Bilingual (Greenlandic and Danish) is an advantage.

The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking dedicated and caring support staff for children attending Nuussuup Atuarfia.

The positions are part-time jobs of 25 hours per week.

Nuussuup School

Nuussuup Atuarfia is a tiered school with 370 students in grades 1-10 and a dynamic and dedicated teaching staff of 38 educators. The school is two-streamed with classes divided into 17 regular classes and 5 special classes.

We expect that you:

·Educated as a support person or have a pedagogical education preferably with supplementary knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities. Or unskilled with experience in working with children and young people preferably with practical skills in providing assistance.

·Robust, patient, friendly, good at collaboration, stable, responsible, and respectful

Can take responsibility and work independently

·Is cooperative with colleagues and parents, and you are willing to engage in pedagogical discussions about our work.

Bilingualism (Greenlandic and Danish) is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Essential work tasks:

·Generally support and train the child in relation to its mental, physical, and social development.

·Provide social pedagogical support according to the goals set out in the child's action plan.

Help with carrying out daily tasks in daycare, where the child is.

Train the child in increased independence.

·Participate in staff meetings

·Participate in supervision

·Participate in status meetings with the administration and parents

Collaboration with the other staff at the child's location

Preparation of status report

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
