Communications Officer for Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq

Are you a sharp writer who can translate complex messages into clear and understandable communication – and can you write well, even when time is of the essence? Then you might be our new colleague in the Communications Department.

Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is a large and versatile organization with around 2,400 employees who work every day with everything from children, schools, and the elderly to urban development, environment, culture, and citizen services.

This also means that there are many stories, decisions, and pieces of information that need to be communicated to our citizens and employees every day.

Therefore, we are looking for a communications officer who is primarily very good at writing – and who can write quickly, precisely, and vividly.

About the job

As a communications officer, you will be part of the municipality's Communications Department and will work broadly with both external and internal communication.

One day you will write a press release or help handle a media inquiry. The next day you will write a short news item for the intranet, a text for the municipality's website, or assist a department in making a difficult message simple and understandable.

The pace can be high, and therefore it is important that you can quickly familiarize yourself with new areas, find the core of a story, and translate professional material into good communication.

Your tasks will include:

·Writing press releases, news articles, and other communication texts

·Writing and editing content for the municipality's website and intranet

·Supporting communication from the municipality's various departments and professional areas

·Assisting with press work and media inquiries

·Translating complex professional and administrative material into clear and understandable language

·Spotting good stories in a large organization and helping to get them told

·Contributing to both planned communication and tasks that arise at short notice.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a relevant academic education in, for example, communication, language, social sciences, or a related field. However, your specific educational background is less important than your ability to communicate.

The most important thing for us is that you can write really well.

You should be able to write a short intranet news item as well as a press release, and you should be able to adapt both language and form to different target groups.

We also emphasize that you:

·Write confidently, clearly, and quickly

·Have a good linguistic sense and an eye for a good story

·Can work independently and maintain an overview when there are many tasks

·Can quickly familiarize yourself with new and sometimes complex topics

·Are curious and not afraid to ask questions

·Thrive in an organization where the agenda can change quickly

·Understand that communication in a municipality is about service, information, openness, and trust.

Experience from a politically led organization, public administration, press, or a communications department is an advantage, but not a requirement.
