The Youth Center in Paamiut is looking for Youth Advisors

Youth Center:

The Youth Advisor is placed under Tilioq and is part of the intervention area. The Youth Advisor works with referred children and young people, and has a close collaboration with their parents

As a Youth Advisor, you will be part of an engaged and interdisciplinary team, where relationships, presence, and development are at the center.

Your primary tasks

·Work with children and young people in close collaboration with the authority caseworker

·Together with the child/young person, develop and follow up on goals and development plans

·Support and guide the child/young person regarding education, work, housing, and social relations

·Plan and implement activities that strengthen community, responsibility, and independence

·Create structure in the daily life of the young people, e.g., by working in dorms or through planned activities

·Prepare status reports and documentation for the authority caseworker every 3 months

·Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and collaborate with relevant partners, such as schools, educational institutions, and workplaces

·Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, and internal case meetings

·Contribute to the development of Tilioq's and thus the Youth Center's other initiatives

We are looking for someone who;

·Has a pedagogical or social education, e.g., educator, social worker, teacher, etc. - But it is not a requirement - you can also apply if you have experience with similar work with young people or social work without formal education

·You are practically oriented and enjoy doing activities with the young people, both indoors and outdoors

·You should have the desire and ability to participate in e.g., kayaking, cycling, walking, cooking, hunting, fishing, and other experiences in nature

·Have experience with young people who have special challenges and need support in the transition to adulthood

We expect you to;

·Be empathetic, stable, responsible, and good at building trust

·Be able to work both independently and as part of a team

·Be able to plan, document, and follow up on interventions

·Be flexible regarding working hours and tasks

·Have good communication skills, both orally and in writing, in Greenlandic and Danish

·Have knowledge of and understanding of young people with social, psychological, or family challenges

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
