Project Manager for Construction Department in Ilulissat

Avannaata Municipality is seeking a Project Manager for our construction department in Ilulissat starting November 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

You will be the Project Manager in the construction department under the Administration for Technology. Professionally, you will report to the head of construction.

Avannaata Municipality has its central administration in Ilulissat. Avannaata Municipality has approximately 10,650 inhabitants, who live spread across 4 towns and 21 villages. Ilulissat is developing, and a new airport of 2200 meters is being built, along with hotels and new housing in the near future.

Near Ilulissat lies the world-famous Icefjord Kangia, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts many tourists to the area every year. Midnight sun, dog sledding, icebergs, fishing, UNESCO, the sea, sea ice, and northern lights are characteristic of Greenland's northernmost municipality, Avannaata Municipality. The town has many associations in sports and culture that you can become a part of. There are several restaurants and cafés in the town.

Main Responsibilities

Project management of the municipality's construction projects, including:

·Implementation of construction projects in Avannaata Municipality.

·Financial management of construction projects.

·Collaboration with other administrations in Avannaata Municipality.

·Collaboration with consultants.

·Conducting tenders and auctions for construction projects

The above will be core tasks for the position, which will also receive interdisciplinary project tasks from across the administration to a significant extent.

Desired Qualifications

We seek applicants with good professional qualifications and an educational background as a building engineer/building constructor/technician/surveyor or equivalent in construction and civil engineering.

·Has experience in building and land legislation.

·Has experience from a similar position.

·You demonstrate flexibility regarding tasks.

·You are a solid user of IT, have knowledge of the Office suite and ERP Prisme.

·You are good at communicating in writing, orally, and graphically.

·You are bilingual (Greenlandic/Danish) but not a requirement.

·You have a desire to work in a politically led organization.

Salary and Employment Conditions

Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Naalakkersuisut and the relevant negotiating organization at the time of commencement.

The employment will be with a 3-month probation period.

No housing will be provided for the position.

About the Position

The position is organizationally placed in the construction department, which handles Avannaata Municipality's construction tasks.

The Administration for Technology currently has 21 employees, consisting of architects, engineers, constructors, and other technicians. The geographical area covers Ilulissat and the towns of Uummannaq, Upernavik, and Qaanaaq and their associated villages.

The Administration for Technology has contact with citizens and the business community.

Criminal Record

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin when the Municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the Municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.
