Avannaata Municipality is seeking a Land Case Handler for the Land and Building Authority Administration in Ilulissat. The position involves processing land applications and collaborating with colleagues. Qualifications include experience in building and land legislation as well as good IT skills.

Land Case Handler for Land and Building Authority in Ilulissat

Avannaata Municipality is looking for a Land Case Handler for our Land and Building Authority Administration in Ilulissat starting from 01.11.2026 or by further agreement.

You will be a land case handler in the Department for Land and Building Authority under the Administration for Technology. Professionally, you will report to the department head for land case handling.

Avannaata Municipality has its central administration in Ilulissat. Avannaata Municipality has about 10,650 inhabitants living spread across 4 towns and 21 settlements. Ilulissat is developing, and a new airport of 2200 meters is being built along with hotels and new housing in the near future.

Near Ilulissat lies the world-famous Icefjord Kangia, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts many tourists to the area every year. Midnight sun, dog sledding, icebergs, fishing, UNESCO, the sea, sea ice, and northern lights are characteristic of Greenland's northernmost municipality, Avannaata Municipality. The town has many associations in sports and culture that you can become a part of. There are several restaurants and cafes in the town.

Essential tasks of the Land Case Handler:

  • Processing land applications from all over Avannaata Municipality.
  • Working closely with colleagues from other towns and settlements to process land cases.
  • The work is carried out in close collaboration with building case handlers and urban planners.
  • In addition to regular land cases, dog areas and boat spaces are administered along with smaller time-limited land applications in the land department.
  • There is an opportunity to help develop and improve the department's workflows.
  • Service and guidance for citizens with applications.

The above will be core tasks for the position, which will also receive interdisciplinary project tasks from the entire administration to a significant extent.

Desired qualifications

We seek applicants with good professional qualifications and an educational background as a building engineer/building constructor/technician/surveyor or equivalent in construction and civil engineering.

·Has experience in building and land legislation.

·Has experience from a similar position or is newly graduated with a burning interest in public administration.

·You demonstrate flexibility regarding tasks.

·You are a solid user of IT, have knowledge of the Office suite, Qgis, NunaGis, NIN.

·You are good at communicating in writing, orally, and graphically.

·You are bilingual (Greenlandic/Danish) but not a requirement.

·You have a desire to work in a politically led organization.

Competencies

·You are independent, meticulous, systematic, and have professional overview.

·You can engage in a demanding and sometimes hectic, but formal and good working environment, with good professional development opportunities.

·You have a holistic approach to tasks and people.

·You have a sense for IT and preferably design programs, etc.

·We therefore emphasize the applicant's ability to work in groups and their competencies within the administration's other tasks.

·You have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

·You have a good sense of humor and are results-oriented.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Naalakkersuisut and the relevant negotiating organization at the time of commencement.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

About the position

The position is organizationally placed in the land and building department, which handles land administration and building case processing.

The Administration for Technology currently has 21 employees, consisting of architects, engineers, constructors, and other technicians. The geographical area covers Ilulissat and the towns of Uummannaq, Upernavik, and Qaanaaq and their associated settlements.

The Administration for Technology has contact with citizens and the business community.

Criminal record

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin when the Municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the Municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.
