Committed department head for the 24/7 and Admissions Department in the Social Agency

If you are interested in a central placement as a department head in a department where the work to enhance the residential institution area for children and young people is prioritized and where development is key, then this position is for you.

We are looking for a department head who can lead the development and qualification of initiatives within the residential area. The Residential and Admissions Department is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and operation of self-government owned nationwide residential institutions for children and young people as well as for disabilities.

The department head has direct managerial responsibility for the employees in the Residential and Admissions Department as well as for the heads of the self-government owned residential institutions in Greenland.

As a department head, you report to the director of the Social Agency and are part of the Agency's management group.

We expect that:

• You have a relevant higher professional education, preferably as a pedagogue or social worker, with a diploma, master's, or candidate degree
• You have management experience
• You have solid knowledge of the social area, the residential area, and a general insight into the social professional aspects of society
• You have knowledge of social legislation
• You are able to think strategically, analytically, and unconventionally
• You are a dynamic, engaged, and development-oriented person
• You can lead the Residential and Admissions Department and ensure the involvement of colleagues, municipalities, and other relevant actors
• You consistently focus on the department's and area's progress and ensure the implementation of the adopted strategies
• You have in-depth knowledge of Greenlandic society and culture
• Good prerequisites for communicating both in writing and orally, in both Greenlandic and Danish

Your tasks will include:

• Daily management and organization of tasks in the Residential and Admissions Department
• Responsibility for the operation and support of the self-government owned residential institutions' administration and financial assistance
• Being an active sparring partner for heads, your colleagues, and partners, as well as supporting and fulfilling the goals and tasks decided in the Agency

About the Social Agency
The Social Agency is under the Ministry of Children, Youth, and Families and includes the following 5 departments: Paarisa, Residential and Admissions Department, Department for Advice to Caseworkers, Economic Department, and Secretariat. The departments work closely together, and it is a workplace that offers many professional challenges.

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the Social Agency has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the Social Agency has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the Social Agency with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Employment conditions
The position is currently salary-fixed corresponding to 38. The salary with fixed salary components and own contribution to pension in LR 38 amounts to DKK 64,048 monthly and DKK 768,576 annually as of April 1, yyyy.

In principle, employment will take place under collective agreement conditions, where an applicant who may already be a civil servant under the civil servant laws for the public Greenland can be employed under civil servant conditions.

For the position, there is no maximum service time set, and the provisions regarding compensation for overtime and the provisions regarding compensation for lost days off do not apply; the working time is in principle 40 hours weekly.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, according to the collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
