In the Department of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture, and Self-Sufficiency, you will play a central role in ensuring sustainable and effective management of Greenland's living resources. Fisheries, hunting, agriculture, and self-sufficiency are the backbone of the country's economy, culture, and future development — and as an economist, you will be a key person in ensuring that decisions, analyses, and political initiatives rest on a solid professional and socio-economic foundation.

Job Responsibilities

In the position, you will work with economic analyses, impact assessments, and the development of models that support political initiatives and decision-making processes. You will prepare professional and socio-economic analyses, contribute to sector support reporting to the EU, and assist in the fisheries annual report. Additionally, you will advise colleagues on economic matters across the department's areas of expertise and participate in the work on decision proposals for the Naalakkersuisut. You will also attend international meetings and potentially participate in negotiations in the long term, as well as being part of the ongoing ministerial service and answering questions from the Inatsisartut.

You will become part of a department where a strong professional community, open dialogue, and effective collaboration are central to task resolution. We are looking for a candidate with:

We are looking for a candidate with a master's degree in economics, for example, cand.polit or equivalent, and with strong analytical skills as well as experience with economic models. You should have a high level of proficiency in Excel, good statistical skills, and be able to communicate complex economic relationships clearly and precisely. You thrive in a politically governed environment, work independently and thoroughly, and you have good collaboration skills as well as an interest in societal development and political processes.

As an economist in the department, you will be part of a professionally strong environment with short decision-making paths and close collaboration across professional groups. You will play a central role in ensuring sustainable and responsible management of Greenland's living resources, and you will work closely with the professional departments, Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control, and other stakeholders. There is also close cooperation with the Department of Finance and Taxes, as particularly fisheries have significant implications for the National Treasury and budget work. Employment Conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and DJØF.

Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
