Do you want to lead the local administration in Nanortalik and help create a well-functioning, present, and cohesive municipality?
The Municipality of Kujalleq is seeking a committed and action-oriented administration manager for Nanortalik. You will have a central leadership role with responsibility for ensuring an effective local administration, good citizen service, and strong collaboration across the municipality's professional areas.
As the administration manager, you will be an important link between citizens, employees, management, and the political level. You must be visible in the organization and in the local community while being able to translate the municipality's goals and decisions into local action.
We are therefore looking for a leader who can create an overview, set direction, and get people to work together.
A central role in Nanortalik
As the administration manager, you have overall responsibility for the local administration and citizen service in Nanortalik and the associated settlements.
You will work closely with the management team, department heads, professional leaders, and other leaders in the Municipality of Kujalleq. An important part of your work will be to create coherence between the municipality's various professional areas while ensuring that decisions are made as close to the citizens as possible within the applicable frameworks.
Your everyday life will be versatile. You will work with leadership, finance, political servicing, coordination, development, and specific issues that require you to make decisions and maintain an overview.
Your key areas of responsibility
As the administration manager, you will be responsible for:
- leading and developing the local administration and citizen service
- ensuring professional, efficient, and welcoming service to citizens
- creating good collaboration across the municipality's administrations and professional areas
- ensuring financial management, budget follow-up, and responsible use of resources
- following up on quality, documentation, workflows, and administrative procedures
- ensuring that applicable legislation, rules, and municipal guidelines are followed
- identifying professional and organizational challenges and ensuring follow-up
- supporting the implementation of political decisions and the municipality's strategic goals
- contributing to development projects and improvements in municipal service
- ensuring good internal communication and relevant information for management and other leaders.
You will also be responsible for the local citizen service function, including budget responsibility, as well as leadership responsibility for relevant employees in the administration.
Close to political work and the local community
The position also involves political and local coordination.
You will collaborate with the secretariat regarding the village boards in the settlements associated with Nanortalik and with relevant professional areas regarding the local council in Nanortalik. You will also contribute to case presentations and recommendations as well as coordination and practical preparation of political activities and events in Nanortalik and the settlements.
As the administration manager, it is important that you have your finger on the pulse. You should have an interest in what is happening among citizens, employees, and the local community, and be able to bring this knowledge constructively into the municipality's work.
Who are you?
We envision that you have leadership experience and preferably a relevant leadership education. You do not necessarily need to check off everything from day one. The most important thing is that you can take responsibility, build trust, and set direction.
We particularly emphasize that you:
- have experience with personnel management and can create engagement and followership
- have an understanding of finance, budgeting, and accounting
- have experience with or understanding of public administration and relevant legislation
- work in a structured manner and can maintain an overview, even when there are many tasks
- can make decisions and follow them through
- communicate clearly and respectfully
- see the opportunities in interdisciplinary collaboration
- are development-oriented and open to new working methods
- meet employees, citizens, and partners with a respectful and solution-oriented approach.
It is an advantage if you have experience from a politically led organization and knowledge of Greenlandic societal conditions.

About the Municipality of Kujalleq
The Municipality of Kujalleq is Greenland's southernmost municipality and includes the towns of Nanortalik, Qaqortoq, and Narsaq as well as the municipality's settlements and sheep farming locations.
The municipality covers a large geographical area, and the distances make local presence, collaboration, and the ability to find practical solutions particularly important.
The business community spans, among other things, fishing, tourism, agriculture, and other local industries. As the administration manager in Nanortalik, you will therefore be part of a vibrant local community and a municipality with both opportunities and complex tasks.
Salary and employment conditions
The position is classified under salary framework 36 according to the applicable ASG agreement.
Salary and employment conditions, including any rights to relocation and departure travel as well as moving expenses, will be determined according to the agreement or contract applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
Housing can be provided for the position. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules at any given time.
