The Department of Traffic and Supervision is looking for a new colleague to ensure the implementation of new initiatives and operations within the infrastructure area in the municipality.

The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a new colleague with technical skills and interest in infrastructure and smart solutions. The position is desired to be filled as soon as possible or by further agreement.

About the position:

As a Road Engineer at Traffic and Supervision, you will play a central role in the planning, coordination, and development of the municipality's road and traffic area. You will be responsible for coordinating with external authorities, utility companies, contractors, consultants, and public transport, as well as ensuring close collaboration with the municipality's own departments in connection with projects and operational tasks.

Your tasks include planning, ordering, and supervision of public operational and development tasks, including snow removal, asphalt work, excavations, road work, and maintenance of road equipment such as signage, guardrails, lighting, and street furniture. You will also be responsible for processing citizen inquiries, advising on traffic conditions, access roads, parking, drainage, and road construction lines, as well as contributing to the authority processing of land and infrastructure cases.

The position also involves analysis and planning tasks using GIS and other data tools, updating the municipality's infrastructure database, and conducting traffic counts, citizen involvement, and registration work. You will prepare political case presentations in collaboration with the administration's ACs, development plans, consultation responses, and informational materials for citizens, politicians, and management.

As part of the position, there will be a duty schedule, where you will handle acute incidents such as traffic accidents, critical infrastructure damage, and winter service outside normal working hours, as well as supervise that the municipality's contractual service goals are met.

Within the department's areas, you will work with:

∙Operation and development of the municipality's road and traffic infrastructure

∙Planning, ordering, and supervision of operational tasks and contracts

∙Authority processing, case processing, and technical advice

∙Coordination with authorities, contractors, consultants, and internal partners

∙Data collection, GIS analysis, and maintenance of infrastructure data

∙Preparation of decision-making basis, consultation responses, and information for citizens and politicians

∙Duty function handling acute incidents and winter service

You have:

We envision that you, as an employee, have a particular interest in infrastructure

∙You are an engineer or have another technical education with professional knowledge in the road area. It is an advantage if you have experience from a position in the private sector, a contracting company, or another public organization. Recent graduates are also considered

∙It is an advantage that you have experience with project work in the road area and can design yourself

∙You have experience with GIS and digital workflows

∙Good collaboration skills and are solution-oriented

∙Preferably language skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and English but not a requirement

∙Familiarity with Greenlandic conditions

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/contract applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing: Personal housing can be assigned for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the rules for rent payment applicable at any time in the Government of Greenland and the municipality's properties, etc. in Greenland. If permanent personal housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered temporary housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the above. The start date depends on when a personal housing is available. A relocation travel and moving expenses will be provided according to applicable rules.
