The Data Protection Agency's office in Greenland is looking for a lawyer.

The Data Protection Agency opened an office in Nuuk on September 1, 2026, to get closer to citizens, businesses, and authorities in Greenland and to help ensure that data protection becomes both more accessible and relevant in a Greenlandic context. We are now looking for one more lawyer to assist with exactly this.

About the position

You will have the opportunity to help establish a completely new government workplace in Nuuk, where you can put your own stamp on the office and your new work life based on the values of the Data Protection Agency.

The work in the office will consist, among other things, of advising citizens, businesses, and public authorities in the area of data protection law, and specifically legal case processing of complaints, supervision cases, and inquiries, access requests, etc.

The office's focus in the initial period will be centered around creating space for an open dialogue with both data controllers, data processors, and registered citizens, where we seek guidance needs through meetings, workshops, collaborative forums, etc., so that we have the best conditions to qualify and plan our priorities and focus areas. It is important to us that data protection is not perceived as rules far removed from everyday life, but as something that is accessible and makes sense for the individual.

You will be part of the Data Protection Agency, which has its headquarters in Valby, where we place great emphasis on knowledge sharing and sparring, and where you will have good opportunities to continuously develop your skills.

The cohesion in the Data Protection Agency is strong, and we will also focus on this in relation to the office in Nuuk despite the geographical distance. We will welcome you warmly and provide you with a thorough introduction to the Data Protection Agency as a workplace and ensure that you are professionally equipped to handle the daily tasks.

You have a relevant academic education (cand.jur. or similar) and preferably experience with concrete case processing and advisory tasks.

It will be an advantage if you, in addition to being proficient in Danish in writing and speaking, also master Greenlandic in writing and speaking, but this is not a requirement.

You are interested in public law subjects, data protection, and technological development. We expect that you also enjoy advising, are happy to talk to people, and are good at communicating rights and obligations in an understandable way both orally and in writing, are service-minded, and have good collaboration skills, and that you are structured in your approach and good at prioritizing among tasks.

Salary and employment conditions

The position is to be filled as soon as possible.

The employment area is the Data Protection Agency. Your workplace will be the Data Protection Agency's office at Industrivej 31 in Nuuk, Greenland.

You will be employed under the agreement between the Ministry of Finance, the Employee and Competence Agency for legal candidates and university economists, etc., in the service of the state in Greenland.

The weekly number of working hours is 40 hours per week.

You will earn vacation with pay and special vacation days according to the applicable law on vacation.

There will be a furnished service apartment for the position with a requirement for residence, for which a housing contribution and furnishing fee, etc., will be paid.

It is a prerequisite for employment that you consent to the Data Protection Agency obtaining and assessing information about you in the Central Criminal Register. Furthermore, it is a prerequisite that you can be security cleared, and you must be able to maintain the security clearance throughout your employment.
