KTI Greenland Technical School is seeking two teachers for the electrician training program in Sisimiut. The position requires strong professional skills and a desire to teach. You will be involved in developing the curriculum and supporting students' academic and personal development in a modern learning environment.
Do you want to use your expertise to educate the electricians of the future in Greenland?
The electrician training is moving to Sisimiut, and we are therefore looking for two engaged electricians or installers who want to bring their expertise and practical experience into the teaching and help shape the future skilled electricians.
At KTI, you will have the opportunity to combine your expertise with teaching and help provide students with both professional skills, confidence, and a desire to develop.
You do not need to be a trained teacher. The most important thing is that you are a strong professional with a desire to share your knowledge, create engagement among students, and develop the teaching together with your colleagues.
A JOB WITH MEANING
As a subject teacher, you will become a central part of the electrician training at KTI. Together with your colleagues, you will create a teaching that connects theory and practice, so that students experience a clear connection between what they learn in school and the reality they encounter as electricians.
You will also become part of a school in development, which continuously adapts the education to the needs of the Greenlandic labor market and to the young and adults seeking vocational education.
KTI offers the basic course in electrician training. The main course H1 is currently not offered in Greenland, and therefore the students continue their further schooling in Denmark. The teaching mainly takes place in Danish.
YOUR TASKS:
Together with your colleagues, you will among other things:
- plan, conduct, and evaluate the teaching
- develop the professional and pedagogical content of the teaching
- guide and support the students' professional and personal development
- connect theory and practice, so that the teaching is experienced as relevant and applicable
- create a good and motivating learning environment with a focus on well-being and professional development
- collaborate with colleagues on the red thread, coherence, and quality in the education
- keep yourself updated on the developments within the electrician profession, including applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU WHO:
- is a trained electrician, installer, or has equivalent documented qualifications
- has several years of relevant work experience in the field
- wants to teach, guide, and share your professional knowledge and experience
- is professionally and technically curious and keeps yourself updated in your field
- has knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards
- would like to have experience with or interest in networks and alarm systems
- is familiar with digital media and IT tools
- is outgoing, engaged, and development-oriented
- thrives in teamwork and actively contributes to a good collegial community
- has knowledge of Greenlandic culture and society
- is proficient in both Greenlandic and Danish.
Teaching experience is an advantage, but not a requirement.
The most important thing is that you have a desire to teach, share your expertise, and make a difference for our students.
WHAT YOU GET AT KTI
At KTI, you will have the opportunity to use your expertise in a new way and at the same time help develop vocational education in Greenland.
You will become part of a modern and resourceful educational institution with well-equipped workshops, modern teaching materials, and engaged colleagues.
We work closely together to create a high professional standard and a good everyday life for students and colleagues – with a focus on attracting, motivating, and retaining students.
As a new subject teacher, you will receive support and guidance from experienced colleagues. As part of your professional development, KTI will pay for you to complete a pedagogical basic education (PG). The education takes place during working hours and may involve teaching courses in other cities along Greenland's coast.
We work together on KTI's core mission:
The best teaching for students and participants.
