Ilasiaq school is looking for a support person for a part-time position of 26 hours per week. The position involves supporting children with special needs in their development and daily activities. About Atuarfik ilasiaq:
Atuarfik ilasiaq is an offer for children whose needs cannot be met in the general school system. The goal is to provide specialized schooling from 1st to 10th grade for children who need an increased special educational effort, which should promote their personal, social, and academic development and prepare them for adult life. There are 15 classes with a total of 60 students and 31 teachers.
The leisure part
Atuarfik ilasiaq strives to create a coherent school day for the students. This means that learning activities take place all day from 8:00 AM to 3:50 PM. The academic part of the school day primarily takes place between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM. In the period after 1:00 PM, there are, among other things, movement activities, students work creatively, play games, and much more. Here, there is a particular focus on training social skills.
We expect you to:
·Be educated as a support person or have a pedagogical education preferably with supplementary knowledge of diagnoses and disabilities. Or unskilled with experience in working with children and youth preferably with practical skills in providing support
·Be robust, patient, kind, good at collaboration, stable, responsible, and respectful
·Be able to take responsibility and work independently
·Be willing to collaborate with colleagues and parents, and you are willing to engage in pedagogical discussions about our work
·Be bilingual (Greenlandic and Danish) is an advantage, but not a requirement
Essential job tasks:
·Generally support and train the child in relation to its mental, physical, and social development
·Provide social pedagogical support according to the goals set out in the child's action plan
·Help carry out daily tasks, in daycare, where the child is
·Train the child in increased independence
·Participate in staff meetings
·Participate in supervision
·Participate in status meetings with the administration and parents
·Collaborate with the other staff at the child's location
·Prepare status reports

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
