We are looking for a healthcare assistant for Ilulissat Hospital
Are you passionate about providing good nursing care primarily to hospitalized patients? – then you are the one we are looking for.
We need you from October 5, 2026, until the end of January 2027 or by agreement.
Ilulissat Hospital is the Regional Hospital for the Avannaa Region in North Greenland. At the hospital, we have about 67 employees. We are characterized by good cooperation and a good working environment.
As a regional hospital, we receive patients from the entire region, either for treatment here or as transit on their way to Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk and Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen.
The ward has 21 beds, of which one room is designated for acute reception. One children's room and three maternity beds as well as one delivery room. One room is specifically designed for palliative care and two rooms for possible isolation.
In addition, we have an outpatient clinic, with about 100 visitors every day.
As a healthcare assistant, you are primarily employed in the ward and participate in rotating shifts and take on, together with the other staff, general ward-related nursing tasks.
We have a very mixed patient clientele consisting of, among others, acutely hospitalized, medical, surgical, psychiatric, palliative patients, socially related patients, and new mothers.
Many tasks will resemble those found in other wards, so it would be beneficial to have experience from other places.
In day and evening shifts as well as most night shifts, care tasks are carried out together with nurses.
Qualifications:
- Trained healthcare assistant with a minimum of two years of experience
- Experience working in Greenland
- Preferably experience with acute nursing
- Preferably bilingual Greenlandic/Danish
The job:
- Close collaboration with colleagues in the ward and not least in the outpatient clinic
- Participate in mixed shifts and weekend shifts every other weekend, where you also cover the emergency room
- Telephone on-call function for villages and Qaanaaq Health Center after 4:00 PM – here you assess the patient's condition (triage) and need for urgent help
Who are you?
- Engaged and trustworthy
- Independent and responsible
- Practical and solution-oriented
- Listening, understanding, and communicates clearly
Who are we?
You will meet skilled and dedicated colleagues who together make things succeed and ensure a good patient journey. Respect, trust, care, and professionalism are the common values of the healthcare system. We will, of course, ensure a thorough introduction to your work.
