Do you want to help increase well-being, cohesion, and community among the students at Ejnar Mikkelsenila Aluarpia – and thereby contribute to improving the conditions for creating learning among the students? And do you want to work at a school? Then you might be our new social worker.
Ejnar Mikkelsenila Aluarpia is a public school with 65 students spread across grades 1-10. There are 7 regular classes and 1 special class. The school has 12 teachers and a principal.
Job description:
As a social worker, your primary task will be to coordinate the social work around the students at the school. Thus, the work will consist of being proactive towards students and parents, conducting conversations with children and parents, providing advice and guidance to the school's staff, as well as handling the school's case processing regarding students.
We expect you to:
∙Be a qualified social worker or equivalent
∙Have the necessary experience
∙Being bilingual will be an advantage, but not a requirement
∙Be able to put your own stamp on the job function and help develop the area at the school
∙Be hardworking, visionary, proactive, and able to work independently
∙Be capable of establishing good relationships with children and young people
∙Have the courage for proactive work
∙Be persistent and willing to seek new opportunities
∙Be prepared for a high degree of collaboration with the school's staff and external partners
Your tasks will include:
∙Developing and improving school-home collaboration
∙Being a contact person for students who require a social intervention
∙Advising and guiding staff in working with children
∙Conducting conversation processes with students and parents
∙Creating action plans for students or classes that need social assistance
∙Helping to implement the action plans
∙Providing social support to the staff
∙Implementing initiatives at the school regarding substance abuse, well-being, and bullying
∙Participating in the school's crisis preparedness
The tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with the school's staff and management, as well as our external partners, which include the social workers from the Family Administration, the Department of Health and Prevention, and with MISI, as well as in networks with the social workers from other schools.
Criminal and child certificate:
This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received a child certificate from the National Police, as well as a criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
