Workplace-funded Ph.D. position for project HELLE, about children's voices in placements Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, Department for Children and Family is seeking in collaboration with Ilisimatusarfik a Ph.D. student for a project,

Project HELLE will develop and implement

a systematic method to include the perspectives of placed children in the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of placements. The Ph.D. project is anchored in Ilisimatusarfik's Center for Children, Adolescent Research Environment (CARE).

We are looking for a candidate who:

·Has a relevant higher education (e.g., in social sciences, anthropology, social work, health, or related fields)

·Masters Kalaallisut, English, and Danish

·Has an interest in or experience with working in local communities and with Indigenous Knowledge

·Has strong analytical skills and can work independently as well as in collaboration with others

·Is eager to contribute to research that has direct relevance for children's well-being and safety

·Otherwise meets the requirements to be enrolled as a Ph.D. student


A workplace-funded Ph.D. is a Ph.D. that takes place in close collaboration with a company, where the research has a practical aim. While a regular Ph.D. is primarily focused on academic research, the workplace-funded Ph.D. is aimed at solving concrete issues in a company, while the student obtains a Ph.D. degree and participates in an active research environment. The program includes participation in courses, dissemination of results, publication of scientific articles, and a longer research stay abroad. The goal is to educate independent researchers at the highest international level.


Expected start date will be October 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The first two months of employment will consist of writing a project description, and the employment is dependent on this project description being approved by the Ph.D. committee for enrollment in the Ph.D. school. Once the project description is approved and the candidate is enrolled, the 3-year program begins.


Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.


The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.


Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.


The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.


Housing:

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
