The Street Team is looking for 1 Social Worker in the Social Services Area

What is the Street Team:

The Street Team is a holistic organized prevention agency that conducts social skills training and bridging work for the most vulnerable and homeless in a developed system with prevention methods that ensure continuous follow-up on each individual citizen. The effort includes interdisciplinary and other partners.

The Street Team performs, among other things: Street outreach work in Nuuk in the places where the target group may reside. Social skills training is also conducted in Housing Training, for a total of 85 people and housing training in their own home for the homeless in their new home.

In the effort, the Street Team has also become aware of a need, which is to meet the citizen in an informal environment with appropriate frameworks and has therefore worked towards creating a space where the citizen can come and receive an assessment in Uummateqarfik/Heart Room.

Uummateqarfik / Heart Room is open during weekdays in the daytime for the vulnerable and homeless in society, where the citizen, in organized conditions, has the opportunity to contact Emergency Shelter staff or, through appointments with the Street Team, have access to the Heart Room. The citizen will have the opportunity to access a proper shower, clean change of clothes, a haircut in Salon Uummateqarfik/Salon Heart Room, and possibly use the Emergency Shelter, so the citizen has a bed to sleep in the coming night if the citizen is homeless and meets the requirements for using the shelter.

Action plans are made for the citizen, who has the opportunity to move forward with support, guidance, backing, and follow-up from the Street Team, which is part of a holistic social professional effort for the homeless and socially vulnerable in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq.

We are looking for you who:

Have a genuine curiosity and interest in our field and not least our target group. You who have an interest in learning from others, reflecting, having patience, the ability to collaborate, and understanding the importance of clear communication and understanding of an organizational workplace.

·Are a trained Social Worker

·Are good at creating close relationships.

·Can navigate in working with vulnerable and homeless citizens and are resilient

·Preferably with a mental first aid certificate but not a requirement

·Preferably with a physical first aid certificate but not a requirement

·Have knowledge of the big city Nuuk

·Are accommodating, flexible, and have an overview

·Have good speaking and writing skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and can orient themselves in English, but not a requirement

·Have a systematic approach to your tasks

·Understand the importance of documenting

·Understand planning and have an interest in always being one step ahead with planning in citizen follow-up

·Problem-solving oriented

·Are open to innovation and further development

·Are used to using Outlook as a tool

Criminal Record:

This position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Greenland Self-Government, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Greenland Self-Government and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be with a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
