The Social Authority is seeking a social worker for the Day and Admission Department in Nuuk. The position involves case management, counseling, and guidance to municipalities and residential institutions. We are looking for an independent and structured candidate with experience in social work and legislation.
The Day and Admission Department works with admissions and advice and guidance for caseworkers in municipalities and residential institutions/day services, and is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and operation of self-government owned nationwide residential institutions for children and young people. The Day and Admission Department is also responsible for the development of new initiatives in the area.
About the Social Agency
The Social Agency is under the Department of Children, Youth and Families and the following 5 departments: Paarisa, Day and Admission Department, Department for Advice to Caseworkers, Finance Department, and the Secretariat. The departments work closely together, and it is a workplace that offers plenty of professional challenges.
About the position:
We are looking for a social worker who can work as an assessor for the Day and Admission Department, who has experience with case handling in the municipality and has knowledge of social work, as well as legislation.
The Day and Admission Department operates a central admission system and handles operational and development tasks related to the qualification of employees and leaders in residential institutions and day services.
The primary tasks of the assessor are to assess and provide advice and guidance to municipalities in the areas of placement outside the home in a residential institution or day service for vulnerable children and young people or persons with disabilities, with the aim of strengthening the legal and social professional knowledge and practice in the area.
Work tasks/areas:
- Case handling in relation to placement cases, admissions, and legislation.
- Social professional advice and guidance to the residential institutions.
- Social professional advice and guidance to the municipalities.
- Purpose descriptions and service declarations regarding self-government owned residential institutions.
- Contribute to the development of new initiatives generally in the residential area.
- Assist in the preparation of guidelines and procedures regarding placement cases and admissions.
- Help facilitate at the principal seminar.
- Various ad hoc tasks.
We expect that you:
- Are a qualified social worker.
- Have in-depth knowledge of case handling and social legislation.
- Have experience in the social field.
- Are independent, flexible, structured, and solution-oriented.
- Are well-founded in written/oral communication, both Greenlandic and Danish.
- Have good collaboration and communication skills.
- Are willing to take independent responsibility in solving the tasks of the Social Agency.
- Are eager to work in a multidisciplinary environment where individuals contribute to holistic solutions.
- Are willing to work in a busy and developing environment and can keep multiple balls in the air.
Travel activity is expected.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and departure travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Start date:
October 1, 2026, or by further agreement.
