The Administration for Children and Families is seeking a social worker for a full-time position. The tasks include case management of child cases, collaboration with families and relevant agencies, as well as the development of action plans. The position requires a degree in social work and experience in case management.
Management for Children and Family Placed team seeks social worker
With employment as soon as possible or by agreement.
The position is a full-time position as caseworker - social worker within the authority area working with children and young people.
Working hours are from Monday – Friday (40 hours a week).
The tasks will primarily consist of:
·Case processing of child cases, including documentation of all relevant information
·Gathering relevant information for relevant agencies depending on the purpose and need
·Preparation, revision of action plans and assessment of whether the ongoing measures are still appropriate for the family
·Referral and visitation to relevant agencies depending on the purpose and need
·Conducting conversations with citizens, including children and young people as well as partners
·Coordination work in connection with visits, visitation agreements, network meetings, family consultations, placements, changes of placement, home return, etc.
·Assessment of whether a placement should be initiated. Upon initiation, a plan for gentle placement must be made in close cooperation with the parents and the placement site
·Processing various types of applications, including additional expenses, projects, visiting trips, boarding school stays, folk high school stays, changes of placement, home return, aftercare, etc.
·Conducting annual supervision of placed children and young people
·Preparing support letters to possibly psychiatry, the Welfare Administration, or other agencies
·Preparation of social professional investigations
·Complying with and applying applicable regulations as well as internal competency plans and guidelines
·Participating in sparring meetings to ensure a uniform professional approach in daily work
·Contributing to a respectful and constructive collaboration in the team, the department, and the administration as well as with external partners
·Participating in social duty outside normal working hours
·Ad hoc tasks by agreement with the department head or team leader
The candidate:
We expect that you are a trained social worker, or within the social field, and have a broad knowledge of case processing of child cases, including in the documentation of relevant information after conversations, holding meetings, and receiving various types of correspondence.
We expect that you are used to conducting various types of conversations, are trustworthy, not reserved, and preferably have knowledge of various types of conversation techniques with citizens, children, and partners. It is important that you have ambitions and are passionate about the profession. We also expect that you can work independently and can be part of a team where collaboration is the key word. You should be adaptable, accessible, and mentally resilient, as the days can be somewhat unpredictable. You will be part of the development of the administration, where we expect you to be solution-oriented and able to provide constructive criticism.
In connection with the fact that the work consists of about 80% administration, you should have a good knowledge of the use of IT systems and be good at formulating yourself in writing.
Travel activities can be expected in connection with supervision or placements, which is why we also expect that you are prepared for this.
The Administration for Children and Family:
The Administration for Children and Family manages the authority area and includes several teams that handle all case processing for children, young people, and families. The tasks are handled by all caseworkers across different teams and consist of, among other things, the preparation of social professional investigations, preparation of action plans, working with prevention, working with placed children and young people in foster families or residential institutions as well as young people in aftercare.
The notification duty and emergency duty receive all notifications for the entire Municipality of Sermersooq and process them. In addition, they have individual case branches where measures have been initiated.
Criminal and child certificate:
This position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police, as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the person concerned, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the person concerned from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Employment will be with a 3-month probation period.
