The Tax Agency is seeking a department head for the Control & Efforts department. The position involves responsibility for tax administration and control, as well as collaboration with other authorities. We are looking for an experienced leader with strong analytical skills and the ability to ensure high productivity and quality.
The Tax Administration is looking for a professionally strong department head for the Control & Action department.
About the department
The Control & Action department handles the following core tasks within the tax, duty, and customs area; Administration and control of companies, self-employed individuals, and employers in the tax area and administration and control of the customs and duty area.
The department is organizationally divided into 4 offices with employees physically located in Nuuk, Qaqortoq, Ilulissat, and Denmark. The tasks cover guidance, assessment, and auditing of businesses and companies. The control covers everything from regular document control to transfer pricing controls and special controls regarding money laundering, undeclared work, unregistered businesses, determination of tax liability for foreign companies, etc.
The department performs the task as a competent authority in relation to international agreements as well as the exchange of information to and from international authorities.
The customs task includes control of incoming and outgoing travelers as well as the import and export of goods. The office also handles tasks related to import duties and import and export declarations and is expected to expand the control task in the other duty areas during the autumn.
Collaboration with other authorities
We have a good and close collaboration with other authorities, especially with the police, the Nordic customs authorities, and the Danish tax authorities. In recent years, we have had a special focus on money laundering and undeclared work in both our tax and customs offices, with strong political support.
The position
As department head, you have the overall professional and personnel responsibility for the department.
As department head, you are also responsible for ensuring high productivity and quality in task execution. You do not need to be a lawyer, but you must be able to set direction, prioritize, and ensure legally sound decisions in the tax and duty area, appropriate operational support in the IT area, and appropriate allocation of resources that ensures that the statutory tasks are carried out. This happens in close interaction and dialogue with employees, professional specialists, and relevant partners.
Professional and managerial requirements
We expect you to be an experienced leader with documented leadership skills as well as a deep understanding of and experience with public administration, politically governed organizations, and professional knowledge within all or parts of the department's areas of responsibility.

Employment conditions
The position is currently set at a salary corresponding to salary scale 38. The salary with fixed salary components and own contribution to pension in LR 38 amounts to DKK 64,048 monthly and DKK 768,576 annually as of April 1, 2026.
In principle, employment will be on collective agreement terms, where an applicant who is already a civil servant under the civil service laws for public Greenland may be employed on civil servant terms.
For the position, it applies that no maximum length of service is set and that the provisions on compensation for overtime and the provisions on compensation for lost days off do not apply; the working hours are in principle 40 hours weekly.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and moving expenses, according to the applicable agreement at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned for the position according to the applicable rules at any time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another housing owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the housing, ownership conditions, etc. There may be waiting time for the assignment of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation occurs. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.
