About the position

Maligiaq is looking for an engaged and professionally strong department leader who can translate the institution's values and pedagogical goals into a safe, structured, and developing everyday life. You will be part of the management and have a central role in the daily coordination and in the development of pedagogical practice.

The position is close to the children and employees. You must be able to lead in practice, create an overview, and follow up on agreements. Tasks and management responsibilities are carried out in close collaboration with the institution leader and within the established delegation.

Your main tasks

·Coordinate the daily pedagogical operations in the department and ensure clear priorities, division of labor, and continuity

·Support employees through professional sparring, feedback, and follow-up on agreements and pedagogical initiatives

·Contribute to planning, implementation, and evaluation of activities based on the needs of the child group

·Monitor the children's well-being, development, and learning environment and ensure that relevant observations and initiatives are documented and followed up

·Participate in a professional and respectful collaboration with parents as well as collaboration with relevant interdisciplinary parties

·Actively contribute to staff meetings, professional reflections, work environment, and development of common workflows

·Handle agreed management tasks and function as a link between the employee group and the institution leader

·Are a trained social pedagogue

·Have relevant pedagogical experience; experience with coordination or management is an advantage

·Can create direction, structure, and followership in a clear and appreciative manner

·Can maintain an overview, prioritize, and make professionally justified decisions in a busy everyday life

·Work systematically with documentation, evaluation, and follow-up

·Communicate professionally and solution-oriented with children, parents, employees, and partners, actively contribute to a healthy work environment, and handle disagreements respectfully and constructively

·Good skills in Greenlandic and Danish are an advantage, but not a requirement

About Maligiaq

Integrated Institution Maligiaq has space for 96 children distributed across six rooms: 36 nursery children aged 0–2½ years and 60 kindergarten children aged 2½–6 years. The institution is open Monday to Friday from 07:00 to 17:00.

In addition to the leader, the institution is staffed with three employees in each room, where the pedagogical leadership function is included in the staffing, as well as employees for kitchen and cleaning.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/contract applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
