Princess Margrethe School in Upernavik is seeking an engaged school social worker who is passionate about early intervention, well-being, and prevention. The school social worker must act as an intermediary for the Department of Family and, in collaboration with the school, ensure that relevant support for students with social or behavioral difficulties is provided.
Princess Margrethe School is a public school with approximately 180 students distributed across grades 1-10 as well as 2 special classes.
Commencement on September 1, 2026, or by agreement.
You will among other things:
- conduct supportive and guiding conversations with students
- support students who need a good start to the school day
- advise and guide parents and school staff
- participate in interdisciplinary meetings with the Family Administration
- contribute to early and preventive efforts
- be a link between school, home, and authorities
- contribute to developing the school's work with well-being and inclusion
We imagine that you:
- is a trained social worker or has a corresponding relevant education
- thrives in collaboration with children, young people, and families
- works in a recognition and solution-oriented manner
- can build trust and strong relationships
- is independent and good at creating an overview
- has experience from the school, family, or social sector
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland or another negotiating organization.
Holidays are held during the students' summer vacation.
Unfortunately, no housing is provided.
Child and criminal record:
This position is covered by the law requiring the collection of a child certificate and a criminal record, which is why the hiring authority will obtain this, with the applicant's approval.
