Ilulissat Police District is seeking an administrative employee with a focus on border control, interpretation, and citizen services. The position involves a varied daily routine with many tasks and requires good language skills as well as administrative abilities. The application deadline is August 24, 2026.

About Greenland's Police

Greenland's Police employs approximately 430 staff, of which about 190 are police trained.

Ilulissat is the second largest police station in Greenland. Under the station are the local police stations in Pituffik, Qaanaaq, Upernavik, and Uummannaq. The station in Ilulissat consists of one district leader who is a police commissioner, ten police trained employees, four administrative employees, and reserve officers. The district covers a total of 5 towns and 22 villages, which in addition to the staff in Ilulissat consists of an additional 10 police trained, 6 reserve officers, 25 municipal clerks, and 3 administrative employees.

In Ilulissat, there are also several specialized units, including investigations and a specialized team, which provides an exciting and versatile workplace with many different professional fields.

In Ilulissat, it is planned to open the new airport with international flight arrivals and departures at the end of October 2026. This is expected to involve significantly more air traffic and simultaneously increases the obligation and workload with border control for the police.

About the position

As an administrative employee, you will have a varied everyday life with many different tasks.

Your tasks will include;

  • Border control, including checking travelers and document control (after completed training)

  • Oral and written interpretation between Greenlandic and Danish

  • Citizen service, including daily expeditions and guidance of citizens

  • Administrative case processing related to police tasks

In addition, you will among other things respond to and forward inquiries via email, order office supplies, and handle other administrative ad hoc tasks.

About you

We are looking for a colleague who;

  • has a relevant office education (e.g. TNI, AU or similar) or solid administrative experience from a similar position

  • has an interest in specializing in border control

  • works independently and at the same time thrives in close collaboration with colleagues

  • is service-minded, structured, reliable, and can maintain an overview – even when it is busy

  • has good IT skills and easily learns new professional systems

  • master both Greenlandic and Danish in writing and speech

Salary and employment conditions

Salary will be based on education level and qualifications, and in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the relevant organization.

Working hours are 40 hours weekly, and are primarily planned during daytime on weekdays, but there are periodically opportunities for other working hours on weekdays and weekends.

The employment period is unlimited.

A non-furnished staff housing may be assigned to the position, for which you will pay a deposit, rent, and ongoing expenses. The size of the housing depends on the number of people in your household. Since there may be waiting time for the assignment of staff housing, you will be provided with a furnished vacant housing in the meantime. There may be accommodation in a hotel for a shorter period if there is also waiting time for a vacant housing. No vacant housing will be provided if you are already residing in Ilulissat.

Free relocation of personal belongings and travel expenses for you and your household will be provided in accordance with the applicable rules at any time.

It is a prerequisite that you can be security cleared at the necessary level for the position. You may be required to perform functions where a higher security clearance is required. Employment in the police and in the prosecution service is conditional on your ability to maintain the required security clearance at all times.

Greenland's Police has implemented smoke and nicotine-free working hours.
