Caseworker in the disability sector

Avannaata Kommunia is looking for a caseworker in the disability area in Ilulissat. The position is desired to be filled by September 1, 2026 as soon as possible or by further agreement.

The caseworker's immediate supervisor will be the department head in the social department.

You will primarily be responsible for the following tasks:

·Receive inquiries and provide advice related to disabled individuals and their families.

• Conduct all case processing in the disability area.

• Preparation of applications under the disability regulation.

• Assessment of the citizen, evaluations of needs. Case presentations, grant letters regarding the allocation of aids as well as significant additional expenses and other services mentioned in the disability regulation.

• Active outreach supervision of the conditions of disabled individuals in the residences belonging to the department, and notification in cases where there may be a need for assistance.

• Various ad hoc tasks.

In addition, reference is made to the responsibilities and job description for the position, which can be requested from the department head in the social department in Ilulissat.

Desired qualifications:

·Social worker, advisory assistant, HK supplemented by professional courses, educator supplemented with professional courses in social law and office areas, or social helper supplemented by professional courses in the social area.

·Preferably with experience in social work.

• Familiarity with IT at user level.

• Bilingual (Greenlandic/Danish) would be a great advantage. And being able to juggle many tasks at once.

• Service-minded, stable, meticulous, and good at collaborating.

• Have the initiative to further educate oneself and take courses. /- You are eager to learn, curious, and appreciative of others' perspectives.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between Naalakkersuisut and the negotiating organization at the time of commencement.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

Housing can be provided for the position, along with the right to a relocation trip and moving expenses according to the applicable rules at any given time.

Criminal record:

Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory public criminal record and child certificate, which will be obtained by the employer from the National Police with the applicant's consent.
