Machinist for the weather station Danmarkshavn, Northeast Greenland. A challenging job for an experienced machinist with strong administrative skills and knowledge of the Office suite. You are an experienced Engineer/Operator or equivalent with the courage for a challenging job.
You know your craft and have good administrative skills, including knowledge of the Office suite at a user level. You must be able to document good health and good dental health, which will be done through an offshore health test. It is also a plus if you are a certified first aider.
You are a mature, flexible, and trustworthy colleague with a good sense of humor. You are independent, approach tasks systematically, and are meticulous in your work, as you are responsible for ensuring that the station's equipment functions properly. You understand the value of collaboration and have the willingness and ability to work across professional boundaries, which allows you to listen and show great helpfulness.
Above all, you are eager for the job and motivated to gain a professional and personal experience every time you are at the station.
You have your hands on right and help where you are needed.
You will be responsible for the daily operation of the power plant and the station's electrical, water, and heating installations, as well as the operation and maintenance of the station's vehicles. In addition, you will need to plan and carry out maintenance tasks and modifications, as well as ensure the procurement of consumables and spare parts in collaboration with the Station Manager. We would also like to hear about skills that go beyond the mechanical engineering field.
You need to be agile and in good physical shape, as there are different terrains in some of the tasks.
The weekly working hours are set at 40 hours, but circumstances may require more than this and at all times of the day. You are proactive and generous with your help and are happy to participate in joint tasks that lie outside your area of expertise.
Your everyday life at the station
For periods of about 9 weeks, your daily life will be centered around the station. You will need to work together with the station's 5 dedicated employees to maintain a high standard in terms of well-functioning materials and equipment, and not least contribute to a well-functioning team both during and outside of working hours. It is therefore important that you are in tune and sociable, but also comfortable spending time in your own company.

The weather station Danmarkshavn, Northeast Greenland TELE-POST's weather station Danmarkshavn is located in Northeast Greenland at approximately 76° 46’ N, 018° 40’ W. The nearest inhabited place is Ittoqqortoormiit, about 700 km south of Danmarkshavn. The station's task for DMI and ICAO consists of launching weather balloons and maintaining measuring equipment, and the meteorological data we collect is central to the planning of air traffic in the North Atlantic.
You are stationed for about half of a calendar year, for periods normally lasting 9 weeks. During home periods, vacation and time off are taken, but there are also mandatory courses and team building, health checks, and dental visits. At the station, you will collaborate with the station's 5 employees in an informal environment and ensure that a high standard is maintained in terms of well-functioning materials and equipment, as well as work procedures focused on reliability and safety. Not least, you should contribute to the team's well-being during and outside of working hours.
Approximately 5 annual flights are scheduled with personnel changes. Only in completely extraordinary situations will it be possible to leave the place of duty during the stay period.
Appointment
August 1. The first outdoor period is from August 12 to October 14, 2026.
Salary and employment conditions You have a fixed monthly salary, even during home periods, and you are employed on an individual contract. You have free meals and accommodation during your stay. This is taxable according to applicable regulations.
Commencement: 01.08.2026 or by further agreement.
