The Uummannaq Children's Home is looking for Educators.
The Uummannaq children's home is looking for educators who are passionate about engaging in care and treatment work with placed children and young people.
About you:
We expect you to have a pedagogically relevant background and education. It is good if you have experience from residential institution work, but it is not a requirement. It is, however, important that you are stable and mentally resilient and prepared to work with changing working hours, including night, weekend, and evening shifts. You should also be willing to participate in projects and camps, which can last several weeks, as these activities constitute a significant part of the treatment work at the Children's Home.
As an educator, you will help create a daily life for our children and young people in a milieu therapeutic context. You need to have an overview and be able to work both independently and as part of a mixed staff group with various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Collaboration, flexibility, and inclusiveness are key words at the Children's Home.
We offer:
An exciting workplace in the world's most beautiful nature. We are an institution in constant development, with professional challenges and great variety in everyday life and in the educational work.
The children's home is a residential institution under the Government of Greenland, designated for 27 children and young people aged 0 to 18, with the possibility of aftercare until the age of 23.
The institution consists of two main departments, a project department and housing for aftercare and transition work. The primary reasons for placement are upbringing-related trauma and neglect.
We work from a appreciative humanistic view of humanity. We perceive every person as unique and as actively engaged in their world, constantly in contact and exchange with their surroundings. We employ an appreciative approach with a focus on relational pedagogy, environmental therapy, and psychodynamic thinking and methods in psychotherapeutic conversations and processes. We work with infant therapy in the treatment of early trauma.
We incorporate Greenlandic culture, nature, local resources, and projects including music, art, and crafts as essential parts of the treatment work.
The working hours are 40 hours a week.
The collective agreement and working conditions for educators in Greenland are negotiated by the Educators' Trade Union NPK.

Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies.
