PI/SPS is seeking an instructor and coordinator for continuing education in Ilulissat. The position involves teaching and coordinating social professional education. We are looking for a flexible and development-oriented employee with experience in social work and teaching. There will be opportunities for travel activities and working from other locations in Greenland.
Instructor and coordinator for the Counseling Education and Pedagogical Diploma Program
Are you up for new challenges and do you want to help make a difference for individual students and society? Then we have a position for you as a teacher and coordinator at the PI/SPS Social Pedagogical Seminar in Ilulissat.
The seminar has a total of about 300 students distributed across eight different programs, including three continuing education courses.
We have a total of about 50 employees, of which around 20 are instructors.
PI/SPS covers all of Greenland with the following essential areas of function:
- to educate and further educate qualified pedagogical staff for all of Greenland
- to inspire professional and educational development in the social pedagogical sector
- to contribute to raising the overall education level in society
We are looking for an instructor/coordinator for the social and social law subject area, who will also be the coordinator for the three modular continuing education programs:
- The vocational education to Advisory Assistant (RAU)
- Academy education for Advisor in Social Work (RSA)
- Academy education in Pedagogical Diploma Education
We are looking for a flexible and development-oriented employee who is passionate about the social field and is interested in creating good opportunities for students in collaboration with colleagues. You should be interested in approaching your surroundings and tasks with a positive attitude.
You will be attached to the main department of PI/SPS. There will be the opportunity to work from other places in Greenland. If you move to Ilulissat, there will be housing available.
You should be able to coordinate the framework for the three educational programs and also have teaching assignments yourself when possible.
You should expect that there will be travel activities. There may be teaching assignments throughout Greenland.
You will become part of a skilled work and teaching team at PI/SPS with the opportunity to collaborate on interdisciplinary work. Additionally, as a coordinator, you will have the chance to influence and further develop teaching programs in line with the Seminar's vision of contributing to making a difference in the social and educational field throughout Greenland.
The position is located in our Course Department.
The following professional and personal competencies are emphasized:
- you are either a trained social worker or educated in social sciences at the bachelor's level - preferably supplemented with a master's or graduate degree
- you have work experience in either consultancy or social work within the social sector
- you have teaching experience and are motivated by teaching adults
- you must be able to work independently in a busy everyday life at times and maintain an administrative overview
- you can work strategically and long-term
- you must be able to network with others regarding the teaching task both internally and externally
- you have knowledge of the Greenlandic society
- you are open to other cultural approaches
- you can take responsibility for your own teaching as well as the coherence and progression throughout the entire education
- you see strengths in collaboration, including interdisciplinary collaboration
- you have a supportive approach, are trustworthy, and responsible.
- we prefer that you are Greenlandic-speaking – as a large part of the teaching will take place in Greenlandic

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned for the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.
