Flexible and quick-learning intern for the colleges at GUX Aasiaat

To work with the young residents at the dormitories of GUX Aasiaat, we are looking for an intern in training as a pedagogue or social assistant or similar, who is eager to learn about our area, and who, with respect for the young people and their situation as students, can help structure the students' daily lives and contribute to building a leisure life that reasonably aligns with the young people's studies.

The young people in the dormitories come from the entire west coast of North Greenland, and will therefore typically be far from family and friends in the initial situation. Longing and homesickness are therefore significant in everyday life.

Attached to the high school's dormitories is a team of dormitory educators who help structure the daily lives of the young people and, to some extent, fill the void left by family and friends for each individual.

There will often be a number of young people who have difficulty getting out of bed in the morning, there will be young people who cannot see the benefit of consuming nutritious meals, and there will be young people who struggle to find their way to bed in the evening because video games are more fun than sleeping. Finally, there are young people who do not believe that studying is a natural part of everyday life.

As a new intern, you will have three direct colleagues with an educational or similar background. Furthermore, you will to some extent be working with the school's teachers and other staff.

If the above sounds interesting to you, we would like to receive a motivated application in which you outline your education and the experiences you can bring to the job. Furthermore, your application should include reflections on how you will take on the task of providing space for the young person's development as an independent individual - and teenager - while also ensuring that the young person is focused on education, healthy living, and active participation in (local) society.

As an intern, you will among other things

• Handle the daily contact with the residents in the dormitories for which you are being trained.
• Initiate and participate in activities for fellow students
• Could participate in hygiene and basic healthy cooking.
• Ensure that the residents comply with the rules of conduct for the dormitories.
• Be part of the duty roster along with the other college educators.
• Work closely with the school's other staff, primarily cafeteria staff, educational advisors, and school consultants.

• That you are in the process of being educated as a pedagogue or have another relevant social education program.
• That you are communicatively skilled and want to learn a systematic and appreciative approach to pedagogical work.
• That you are independent and structured.
• That you are interested in working with young people aged 15 to 25 years.
• That you see a challenge in creating a future for the youth of North Greenland.
• That you are a good example to your colleagues.
• That you are empathetic and can engage in dialogue with your colleagues.
• That you have a good mood and are welcoming.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and departure travel and moving of personal belongings, in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The working hours are 30 hours per week according to the applicable agreement.

Housing

An unfurnished student residence can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned residence. The student residence is linked to the internship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
