The position of Social Counselor for People with Disabilities in Nanortalik is an exciting opportunity for a Bachelor's degree holder with an interest in IT and management. The role requires excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work with both internal and external partners across the organization.
Kommune Kujalleq is seeking a skilled, dedicated, and stable professional with relevant social work education to join the service for people with disabilities in Nanortalik, starting February 1, 2026, or by agreement. The child and youth sector in Kommune Kujalleq has faced challenges, leading to temporary government intervention. Consequently, the Department for Children and People with Disabilities was established to ensure citizens' rights and well-being, strengthening responsibilities significantly. As a social counselor, you will play a crucial role in services for people with disabilities. The department is small, focusing on children, youth, and adults, including those placed outside their homes due to disabilities, offering diverse daily tasks and significant personal and professional development opportunities. We expect you to have a Bachelor's degree in social counseling or equivalent education, experience in comprehensive service provision, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to work across departments with internal and external partners. You should also have administrative and financial task experience and the ability to mediate and engage positively with citizens based on their life situations. Responsibilities include ensuring services for people with disabilities comply with current laws, conducting assessments, planning actions, applying for support, and monitoring assistance based on current needs. You will contribute actively to developing and maintaining good collaboration within the department. The social services offer opportunities for influence, responsibility, and development in the evolving field of disability services, working closely with your immediate supervisor and competent colleagues. The position is 40 hours per week, with potential participation in on-call duties. The role requires a child protection certificate before employment can commence. Salary and terms are according to the agreement between the Government and the Union for Social Counselors and Caseworkers. Housing may be available, with rent and other costs according to current regulations. After at least three years of employment, relocation expenses may be covered.
