Experience Creators for Children and Youth (Librarian)

Nunatta Atuagaateqarfia/National Library is seeking a creative employee to promote literature for children and youth. You will work with the Experience Team, plan and execute events, and be responsible for creative workshops. We are looking for a librarian with project management experience and an interest in literature.

Nunatta Atuagaateqarfia/The National Library is looking for a new employee who can be creative with the library's children and youth and has an interest in learning and communication. You will be involved in conveying literature to children and young people and supporting their desire to read.

You will belong to Team Experiences, which focuses on generating ideas, planning, and executing events that support the library's role as a place for inspiration, learning, creativity, and immersion.

Your tasks will mainly be:

  • Create relevant experiences, from idea to planning and execution.
  • Prepare texts and PR materials for events and exhibitions.
  • Communicate the library's books widely and creatively in the library space and on social media.
  • Project management of upcoming projects in our youth library
  • Be responsible for weekly creative workshops in the children's library.
  • Librarian shifts during the library's opening hours
  • Network locally, nationally, and internationally in connection with events and exhibitions.
  • Is a librarian with a DB/cand.scient.bibl., cand.mag. or has another relevant education.
  • Has practical experience in project management.
  • Is good at building relationships with children and young people.
  • Has experience with creative work, particularly in the visual field, and is full of good ideas for various cultural offerings.
  • Has communication skills and can convey convincingly, creatively and/or informatively.
  • Has an interest in and knowledge of literature
  • Is bilingual (Greenlandic and Danish)
  • Has a clean child and criminal record

The library is the public library for Nuuk and the central library for Greenland. It is a centrally located library that is frequently used by citizens.

We are organizationally divided into 4 teams: Team Groenlandica, Team Nunarput, Team Experiences, and Team Service. A library that is the driving force behind many cultural and literature-promoting events, including Author Celebrations and the annual Cultural Night. Additionally, we like to make our mark in the city's other cultural life, for example, the Suialaa Arts Festival.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned housing is retained. The housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
