Job Description – Experienced Thai Head Chef

Siam Orchid | Nuuk, Greenland

Siam Orchid is looking for an experienced, passionate and independent Thai Head Chef with 5–10 years of professional cooking experience.

The ideal candidate loves Thai cuisine, has excellent cooking skills and can take significant responsibility for the daily kitchen operations. You will have the opportunity to develop new dishes by combining authentic Thai flavours, European cuisine and Greenlandic ingredients, including local fish, seafood, reindeer and lamb.

Main responsibilities:

• Prepare authentic Thai dishes with excellent flavour and consistent quality.
• Develop new recipes, dishes and menus.
• Organise daily kitchen operations and food preparation.
• Take responsibility for food quality, hygiene, ingredient management and minimising food waste.
• Work independently, solve problems and make responsible decisions.
• Contribute creative ideas and help develop Siam Orchid's menu.

Requirements:

• 5–10 years of relevant professional cooking experience.
• Strong knowledge of authentic Thai cuisine.
• Creative, responsible, organised and passionate about food.
• Able to work independently and take responsibility for kitchen operations.
• Good English communication skills.
• Willing to relocate to Nuuk, Greenland, if currently living abroad.

Employment conditions:

• Working hours: 40 hours per week.
• Salary according to the applicable SIK collective agreement and relevant employment terms.
• Possibility of negotiating a higher salary and additional working hours, subject to agreement and applicable rules.
• Accommodation may be available at the employee's own expense. Larger accommodation may be investigated if needed, with the additional cost paid by the employee.

The successful candidate should be ready to learn workplace routines and take an active role after a short introduction. Applicants from outside Greenland must meet the applicable work and residence permit requirements before starting work.
