Social worker/educator – full-time position at the Student Home

Qeqqata Municipality's student home has ten school-seeking residents aged 13-16 years in the school year 2026/27, who attend 9th and 10th grade at Atuarfik Kilaaseeraq. The residents come from the villages of Sarfannguit, Napasoq, and Atammik. The student home is staffed around the clock, with the staff consisting of 1 leader, 1 deputy leader, 3 social workers/assistants, 1 kitchen manager, and 1 night watchman who works 40 hours a week on shifts.

Primary duties and responsibilities will be

• Interaction/care/education of the residents.
• Ensure that the residents attend school every day.
• Cooperate with cleaning in the student home.
• Initiate activities together with the residents.
• Ensure that there is a good atmosphere in the student home.

Qualifications

• have an education as a social worker or equivalent.
• have experience with caring for young people aged 13-16 years.
• enjoy working with young people.
• Can maintain good cooperation with parents and school.
• are stable and responsible and can work independently.

Requirements for the applicant

• you have the competence to offer pedagogically stimulating activities.
• you must be able to accompany the students on trips
• you must be able to understand and speak Greenlandic

Salary and employment conditions

There is free travel for arrival and departure and relocation of belongings, in accordance with the agreements in effect at the time of commencement between Naalakkersuisut and S.I.K or NPK.

Housing can be provided, for which rent etc. is paid according to the rules in effect at any time.

Child certificate

The positions are subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has obtained a child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police.

Employment is conditional on a satisfactory child and criminal record check, which is obtained by Qeqqata Municipality.

Start date December 1, 2026, or by agreement.
