Health Assistant sought for Gynecological/Obstetric Department K3 – permanent position

Do you want to make a difference for women, newborns, and families throughout Greenland?

Then you might be the one we are looking for at the Gynecological/Obstetric Department K3 at Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk.

We are seeking new colleagues for permanent positions. The positions are full-time with 3-shift rotation and weekend duty every other weekend. We use a wish schedule, so you have influence over your own duty roster and the opportunity for flexibility in your work life.

We emphasize that you take the individual patient's needs and wishes as your starting point. You listen actively, meet patients and relatives with respect and presence, and adapt your care and communication to the individual's situation. Furthermore, you are engaged in your work and contribute with a positive and appreciative approach that creates security and positively impacts both patients, relatives, and colleagues.

A bit about K3:

K3 is Greenland's only specialized department in gynecology and obstetrics. We therefore receive patients from all over the country and handle both planned and acute cases.

Our patient groups include pregnant women, postpartum women, premature newborns from GA 34+0, gynecological patients, breast surgical patients, and patients in need of palliative care. Patient pathways vary from short admissions to longer-term processes.

The department has 10 beds for pregnant and postpartum women, 2 beds for premature children, and 8 beds for gynecological patients, breast surgical patients, and palliative patients.

We collaborate closely with the maternity department, intensive care unit, health visitors, health centers, and regional hospitals throughout Greenland.

Professional development and collegial support:

Our staff group consists of both permanent and temporary employees, and several of our colleagues are bilingual. We also have a permanently employed interpreter attached to the department. We value our different experiences and perspectives and are happy to help new colleagues settle in both the department and the Greenlandic culture.

We prioritize high professionalism, knowledge sharing, and ongoing competence development. Every Tuesday, we hold professional meetings focusing on improvements and development, and every month we offer training and other professional activities. The department has a permanently employed midwife with special responsibility for education and professional development.

The department works with assigned patient care, and during day shifts, a fixed coordinator ensures an overview and coherence in the department's tasks. Additionally, we work in pairs, so you have a colleague to consult with in your daily work. We also prioritize a thorough introduction based on your experiences and competencies.

We offer:

  • A department with engaged staff in a broad interdisciplinary environment consisting of nurses, midwives, health assistants, and interpreters
  • A structured introduction based on your experiences and competencies
  • Ongoing professional sparring and good opportunities for competence development through relevant courses and further education based on your professional interests, competencies, and the department's needs
  • A close collegial community where we help each other in a varied everyday life
  • An active staff association

We are looking for you who:

Are engaged in patient care and take the patient's needs and wishes as your starting point

Thrive in a varied everyday life and can prioritize and plan your tasks

Can maintain calm and overview, even when the situation is busy or unpredictable

Contribute positively to interdisciplinary collaboration and value professional sparring

Are curious about new professional challenges and want to develop your competencies

Are flexible and willing to work with the department's various patient groups

Have experience with obstetrics, gynecology, neonatology, pediatrics, or palliative care, but it is not a requirement
