Queen Ingrid's Hospital is seeking a nursing director who will lead the development of the Greenlandic healthcare system. The position requires leadership experience, a relevant education, and the ability to handle complex tasks in collaboration with clinical management. The location is in Nuuk.

Nursing Professional Director for Queen Ingrid's Hospital

We are looking for a Nursing Professional Director for Queen Ingrid's Hospital, who as part of the management team sets the direction for the development of the Greenlandic healthcare system. This is done in close and coordinated collaboration with the clinical managements. Together with the rest of the management team, the overall priorities for the development of the entire healthcare system in Greenland are set, ensuring that the political priorities and the adopted strategies are implemented. The management team is financially responsible for an annual budget of approximately 1.9 billion DKK.

The new nursing professional director must be able to handle leadership tasks in value-creating leadership both in daily practice and in strategic matters. The Greenlandic healthcare system is nationwide and handles a wide range of varied and diverse healthcare tasks. This includes all tasks in the primary healthcare area, specialized treatment tasks in hospitals, home care, and pharmacy operations. The specialized tasks include both somatic and psychiatric care.

The Greenlandic healthcare system is led by a management team consisting of the Director, the Chief Financial Officer, the Medical Director, and two Nursing Professional Directors.

The management team is collectively responsible for the overall economy and the overall coordination of tasks as well as staffing situations in SHV. You will, in collaboration with the chief nurses, have a particular focus on retention, recruitment, and professional development of the nursing staff.

The position as nursing professional director is without clinical duties. You can expect an exciting and varied workday in a complex organization. You will have close collaboration with the Department of Health, the political-administrative system, and the National Health Authority.

You will be physically located in Nuuk. In total, there are approximately 1600 employees in SHV, of which about 550 are at Queen Ingrid's Hospital. The national hospital in Nuuk covers the medical area, surgical area, operations and intensive care, psychiatric area, care coordination, diagnostic area, the National Pharmacy, and home care. Additionally, there is Queen Ingrid's Health Center (DIS), which is part of the Sermersooq Region, located in Nuuk, as well as the Greenlandic Patient Home (DgP) in Copenhagen.

We are looking for a nursing professional director who:

  • Has a Greenlandic authorization as a nurse
  • Masters Greenlandic, Danish, and preferably English
  • Has documented leadership experience, preferably with leadership of leaders
  • Has a degree at the master's or graduate level
  • Can handle cross-pressure between politics and professionalism, and can prioritize tasks and resources consciously and wisely
  • Has good collaboration skills and impact
  • Is open-minded, collaborative, flexible, and communicative
  • Is familiar with financial management and planning
  • Has in-depth knowledge of Greenland (is an advantage and will be weighted)

Housing

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic healthcare system at any time.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

In principle, employment will take place on collective agreement terms, where applicants who are already civil servants under the civil service laws for public Greenland may be employed on civil service terms. Employment may occur on fixed-term conditions.

For the position, there is no maximum service time set, and the provisions regarding compensation for overtime and provisions regarding compensation for lost days off do not apply; the working hours are in principle 40 hours weekly.

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. A residence and work permit can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
