Sermersooq District Court in Nuuk is seeking a court secretary for the criminal court secretariat. The position involves case processing, contact with citizens, and administrative tasks. Emphasis is placed on responsibility and collaboration. The application deadline is October 7, 2026.

Your new workplace

As a court secretary, you assist the district judges with the handling of criminal cases and become an important part of the daily case processing at the district court.

Sermersooq District Court handles cases in a jurisdiction that includes Nuuk as well as the satellite locations in Paamiut, Tasiilaq, and Ittoqqortoormiit. As a court secretary in the criminal court secretariat, you must also be prepared to participate in business trips to the three satellite locations.

You will have a daily routine with many different tasks and close contact with both citizens and professional actors. We place great emphasis on ensuring that everyone who comes into contact with the court is met with dignity and respect and receives correct and comprehensive guidance.

The position also involves participation in a weekend duty roster.

Your primary tasks

You will among other things:

  • prepare cases for the district judges, including summoning parties and witnesses

  • prepare court and judgment books and subsequently process the cases for the relevant actors

  • handle various case-related and administrative tasks in close collaboration with the district judges and your secretary colleagues

  • advise citizens by phone and in person at the district court

  • resolve other administrative and practical tasks as needed.

About you

We envision that you:

  • have experience with secretarial and office work

  • would preferably have an office education, e.g., TNI or equivalent

  • are familiar with IT and have an easy time getting into new systems

  • work in a structured and responsible manner – even when there are many tasks

  • thrive with both independent work and close collaboration with colleagues

  • meet citizens and partners professionally, respectfully, and welcomingly

  • want to contribute to both the rule of law in Greenland and the good well-being at the district court.

The working languages are Greenlandic and Danish. It is a requirement that you master Greenlandic, and it is an advantage if you also have a good command of Danish.

Salary and employment conditions

Employment will be in accordance with the applicable agreement with SIK or HK/Stat.

If you move to Nuuk in connection with the employment, we will pay for the relocation and moving of belongings according to the provisions of the agreement. Housing can also be provided, for which rent, etc., will be paid according to applicable rules.
