Night-shift nurse/department manager for coordinating management function sought

For the inpatient department at Maniitsoq Health Center, a nurse or experienced healthcare assistant is sought for a coordinating departmental management function.
The position is for 40 hours a week and in the health center's inpatient department. The position can also be applied for as a temporary position of at least 5 months duration.

You will primarily be employed in a management function of the inpatient department. Here, in collaboration with the head department nurse for the center and the service manager of Maniitsoq Health Center, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the inpatient department.
You will need to coordinate, plan, and provide nursing care for the admitted patients. Lead and ensure well-being for a smaller group of nurses, assistants, and helpers, as well as plan the working hours. You must be able to ensure the quality of nursing care, teach and inspire the staff, and help educate the department's students and trainees.

Maniitsoq Health Center is part of the health region Qeqqa and has around 60 employees. The local management at Maniitsoq Health Center collaborates with the Regional Management, which is physically located at the Regional Hospital in Sisimiut.

We are looking for you who:

• Are a licensed nurse and have at least 2 years of experience as a nurse or healthcare assistant with experience
• Further education in management or health
• Have a desire for leadership
• You are good at communicating, initiating, and engaging professionally in the management task
• You are good at planning and are adaptable

• Experience from medicine, surgery, and/or emergency areas is an advantage

About us:

Maniitsoq Health Center is part of the Health Region Qeqqa and has around 60 employees distributed across the health center and the three associated nursing stations in the district's villages.

The health center's inpatient department has space for 18 admitted patients of all ages with various disease patterns - medical and surgical patients, as well as psychiatric patients admitted from time to time. The staff team consists of 4 nurses, 4 healthcare assistants, and 6 nursing helpers. The nurses work day and evening shifts and are on call at night from their own homes - with a doctor on standby. Between 4:00 PM and 8:00 AM and on weekends, the inpatient department functions as an emergency reception – however, we do not expect you to have emergency room experience.

The health center provides primary care in somatic and psychiatric home care, health care, maternity care, physiotherapy, venereal and contraceptive clinics, as well as 2-3 medical consultations. Additionally, the center has a laboratory, X-ray, nursing consultations, emergency room/reception, and a pharmacy.

A bit about Maniitsoq:

Maniitsoq is located on Greenland's west coast, just south of the Arctic Circle between Nuuk in the south and Sisimiut in the north. The Maniitsoq area is very beautiful, surrounded by high and jagged mountains with glaciers that stretch down to deep fjords. There are about 3,800 inhabitants in the district, with about 2,800 in the town and the rest in the district's three villages. The villages are visited several times a year, and transportation is by boat. The town has most modern conveniences, grocery stores, a domestic airport, weekly connections with the coastal ship, and in the summer months, a fast boat route to Nuuk.

Summer recreational activities include hiking in the mountains and sailing among the humpback whales, which are characteristic of our district. In the winter months, the northern lights dance in the evening and night sky, and during the day there are opportunities for alpine and cross-country skiing. Additionally, Maniitsoq has an evening school with many exciting activities, and throughout the year there are opportunities for various sports activities.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
