Qeqqata Municipality is seeking a collaborative Area Manager for the municipal emergency services in Maniitsoq. The position involves managing the fire station, personnel management, budget responsibility, and training responsibility. The applicant must be bilingual and have experience as an operations leader.
Area Leader for the Emergency Services in Maniitsoq
Qeqqata Municipality is looking for a collaborative, outgoing, and open Area Leader for the municipal rescue service in Maniitsoq. Start as soon as possible or by further agreement
Qeqqata Municipality's municipal rescue service has 124 firefighters in 2 different fire stations in Sisimiut and Maniitsoq with a total of 5 subordinate smaller stations in the settlements, and the municipality also has a contract fire service in Kangerlussuaq. As Area Leader, in collaboration with the emergency services chief and deputy emergency services chief, you will manage the rescue service in Maniitsoq at a strategic level.
You will, among other things, be responsible for the following areas:
- Management of the local rescue service in Maniitsoq and the settlements, including tasks as garage master
- Personnel management of the fire station's employees
- Budget responsible for the fire station in Maniitsoq and the settlements
- Updating local emergency plans
- Training responsible for the area of responsibility
- Conducting fire inspections
- Maintenance of the fire station's materials and buildings, including servicing of operational equipment
- Preventive efforts for the city's and settlements' residents
- Ensure effective, smooth, and administratively correct case processing
- Various ad hoc tasks
Requirements for Applicants:
- Trained incident commander (City/Air) or open to training
- Preferably with supplementary training in fire inspections
- Can solve administrative tasks
- A natural leader who can create respect for themselves and the emergency service's tasks internally as well as externally
- You are able to provide credible support, both upwards and downwards in the organization
- You are a unifying figure who can provide direction for the different units
- You have financial flair
- Must be able to involve the staff in a way that fosters ownership and engagement in decisions made
- Bilingual (Greenlandic/Danish)
Personally, the applicant must:

- Be results- and development-oriented
- Be able to handle conflicts when they arise
- Be trustworthy and able to show trust in their surroundings
Salary and Employment Conditions:
Salary and employment conditions, including rights to relocation and departure travel and moving of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization. A staff housing may be provided for the position.
Employment is based on a satisfactory criminal record
