The position involves project management of renovation projects and collaboration with external consultants. We offer an exciting work environment focused on innovation and development.

PROJECT MANAGER

Economy and Personnel Agency

Office for Building, Renovation, Procurement and Temporary Accommodations (Renovation Secretariat)

We are looking for a skilled and committed project manager who will help develop Greenland's construction and civil engineering sector's role and develop the public construction sector here at home.

The Renovation Secretariat is one of 4 areas in the Office for Building, Renovation, Procurement and Temporary Accommodations, and takes care of the Self-Government's client role for renovation, maintenance, and demolition projects in several areas; education, dormitories, churches, social institutions, and housing.

As a project manager in the Renovation Secretariat, you will be part of our project management team, which is responsible for project management of renovation and maintenance projects within the housing sector. Therefore, you will help ensure the implementation of the renovation efforts of the Self-Government's housing stock, which has both significant societal importance and major political attention.

This involves coordinating the preparation of projects and tenders in collaboration with external advisors, entering into contracts with partners, and following up and controlling during execution.

As part of the project management team, you will also experience that we value innovation and development within the field highly, to find concepts, initiatives, and solutions that fit our climate and working conditions.

We offer

Working in the Renovation Secretariat takes place in an exciting and professionally challenging environment with good opportunities for development responsibility and professional advancement.

• A job close to the political decision-making process

• An informal and open working environment with engaged colleagues

• Exciting personal and professional challenges as well as opportunities for further education

• A workplace focused on innovation and new thinking

The tone is informal, and the atmosphere is characterized by good humor in a hectic daily life, but also with respect for the fact that work life and family life must go hand in hand.

Areas of responsibility

You will manage a construction project from start to finish, at the project manager level. This includes, for example:

  • Understanding planning and preparation of program proposals or other planning basis
  • Understanding ongoing follow-up and quality assurance of project material
  • Initiating tenders and making decisions on bidding and proposal results together with management
  • Responsible for daily management of finances, including control of requests, invoices, guarantees, etc.
  • Understanding communication, possibly contract negotiations with contractors and suppliers in collaboration with management
  • Representing the Self-Government as a client during all phases of the project, as well as understanding daily project management of construction projects

Your tasks will relate to the work of translating political decisions and objectives for construction projects, but since we are a small department, collaboration and flexibility across tasks are a prerequisite.

Travel activity is to be expected in connection with the position.

The right candidate

The right candidate has an education as a building constructor, Arctic engineer, technician, or equivalent. Experience, including in the construction sector or related areas, is an advantage but certainly not a requirement. Recent graduates are also encouraged to apply for the position.

  • Strong in written and oral communication
  • Collaborative, analytical, and goal-oriented in your work style
  • Ambitious - with the desire and ability to take responsibility and make an effort
  • Team player, but most of all you must be able to independently ensure quality and progress in construction projects in all their phases

You will find that there are high demands on you and your competencies in the position. Therefore, we expect that you possess a range of personal competencies, including balancing between a broad overview and an understanding of detail, seeing the advantages of a mix of independence and co-creation, as well as being diplomatic, informal, and up for a good laugh during your - at times hectic - workday.

It is necessary that you have knowledge of the Greenlandic language and society.

Most importantly, you have the desire to make a difference and contribute positively to our work with the public construction sector. You thrive in a busy daily life, where you maintain an overview and put action behind ideas.
