The National Health Authority is seeking a department doctor for health professional advice and supervision in Greenland. The position requires experience from the Greenlandic healthcare system and competencies in public health. The work involves advising, handling complaints, and ensuring the quality of health statistics.

The National Health Authority is the Greenlandic health authority. We provide health professional advice to other authorities and health personnel in relation to, among other things, forensic autopsies, prevention of the spread of infectious diseases, emergency tasks, and environmental pollution. We also supervise treatment facilities and health personnel in Greenland and handle complaint cases.
The health sector in Greenland has great societal significance and therefore significant political attention, which is reflected in the tasks and responsibilities associated with a position in the National Health Authority.
Your tasks will include:
health professional advice to other authorities and health personnel
handling of complaint cases
supervising health personnel and treatment facilities
developing professional guidelines for health personnel
responding to inquiries to the unit's emergency phone, such as in cases of infectious diseases, environmental pollution, and health legal issues
collecting, quality assuring, and processing health statistics
The tasks are varied and often unpredictable. Depending on your wishes and competencies, there will also be opportunities to take on other tasks.
We expect that you have most of the following qualifications and competencies:
Professional qualifications
You are a specialist in public health or another relevant specialty
You have experience from employment in the Greenlandic healthcare system.
Your personal qualifications:
You work systematically and emphasize responsibility, quality, and structure in your work
You are positive and approachable, good at communicating in writing and speech
You thrive in a busy and interdisciplinary environment
You have knowledge of Greenlandic societal conditions
You are a strong communicator, both in writing and orally – preferably in Greenlandic, Danish, and English
It will be an advantage if you have experience working in a politically governed organization.
About us:
The National Health Authority is a nationwide authority with a wide range of tasks, including supervision, advice, and guidance, and collaborates with relevant partners both domestically and internationally. We currently have 7 employees, consisting of the Chief Medical Officer, 5 health professional consultants, and an administrative consultant.
We have an office in one of Nuuk's coziest houses with access to our own garden. At the National Health Authority, we have an informal tone and often laugh together. We greatly appreciate the good atmosphere and collegial solidarity, despite sometimes busy periods.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and departure travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment may occur as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor in accordance with the applicable collective agreement
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
